2025 Birthday Candy Swap - 2.5" Squares

Happy Birthday, Janice!
Oh, and thanks for asking about the run. It was a lot of fun; I’ll attach a photo collage. This race has a “centipede” competition and this year a group (or rather, a bunch) of bananas was the highlight, their last member being dressed as a gorilla! I wasn’t so thrilled to be passed by a bunch of bananas, but hey, I finished the race, meeting my goal of running the whole way with a good pace (for me!).

Quossom my oldest daughter ran a marathon in all 50 states and Washington DC. When she ran her last state we were there to cheer her on and some of her running friends from across the country joined her. You should have seen all the interesting outfits people wore to cheer her on. The one that stood out the most to me was a great big tall fellow who ran the entire race in a gorilla suit. So much fun and congratulations on running the entire way

I'm sorry I haven't posted on here as much as I should. Life runs away! I literally went up to Hubby yesterday and said "Legit question here: how old am I turning next month? I know I'm over 30 and under 35, but otherwise I don't remember!" Luckily one of us still has their head screwed on right, because he remembered! 😂
Anyhoo, here's a candy quilt, "Faded Charms" I made a couple of years ago and just finished quilting. It still needs the binding, but it's one step closer to being done! I loved doing this one, pulling only lights and neutral candies. It had such a calming affect on me as I sewed it. The sweet kitty photo bombing it is named Hector. He's one of our 9 barn cats and his twin, Vector, looks just like him. So for all I know it's Vector checking out the quilt! The kids can tell them apart, but I have never been able to! They are all sweet and respond to "kitty-kitty" and the shaking of the cat food bag! Lol!

A marathon in all the states?!? I am blown away! I'd be happy to do a 5k in the states surrounding me...I think that's as much as I can hope for at this stage of life. LOL
@NZquilter I LOVE that quilt! Great way to use tons of candy!
Thanks for the good wishes, everyone. Especially now that I'm retired, I'm really counting on my running to keep me active. Without it, I might well be sitting 16 hours a day quilting! (Okay, slight exaggeration, I also have chores!)

Another Texas fact. I’m sure when you think of the Texas wall you think of a huge fence that goes on for miles. Actually the wall here is across 6 counties and it is in bits and pieces. It is costing about 25 million dollars per miles and so far is 34 miles long. Texas border with Mexico is 1,254 miles long. The fences are tall 18 to 27 feet but the lengths of the fences vary greatly. You might see a long one about 6 city blocks long then there will be an opening of a block or so then a couple smaller fence lengths. Very strange looking to us. Majority of the land owners won’t allow the Wall on their property, their complaint is not only the wall but border patrol drives long the side of the walls taking even more of their property. Most of the different walls we have seen are in extreme rural areas and it’s mostly scrub brush. A pretty hostile environment.

Your Hector/Vector kitty looks like he/they could be from the same family as my ZuZu. She responds to shaking the treat bag all of the time and to her name nearly all of the time.
