2025 Birthday Candy Swap - 2.5" Squares
#401
Good 2.5 day! I’ve wanted to have a finished candy square quilt for some time and the day is finally here. This is my color block quilt using 750 candies. It was super simple except for the fact that I had difficulty lining up the sashing strips in some spots but I can live with it. It’s diagonally quilted with the blocks rotated so the form a diamond pattern rather than a straight diagonal. It’s a donation quilt for Project Linus.
I also have a Faded Charms top from many years ago. The sashing looks brown but it’s actually scrappy deep reds. It’s so darn big that I’ve never quilted it. Maybe one day I’ll get up the nerve.
For Redpurselady, there are a couple of methods for posting pix. This is how Patrice J posted it in 2020. Give it a try! https://www.quiltingboard.com/attach...020-01-17-.pdf

I love your 2.5 reveal!! Lovely quilts. Maybe the rainbow quilt will get my grands to sit at the sewing machine and give it a try!
A total of three faded charm quilts so far today. Good job everyone!
Quossum -- congrats on the successful completion of the run. I challenge myself to try a run now just to try to keep up with you. Since I am horribly out of shape, I think I will try walking a 5K first.

March candies in the mail today. I didn't have time to go to the counter to verify weight so I used a 3 oz stamp. The last post office didn't recognize the 2 oz stamp. Here's to hoping they recognize the 3 oz stamp. Nothing should prevent them from reaching the destination except for the post office. Candies away!!!

Redpurselady, I don't know how to send from my phone either. I send from phone to laptop, save to the appropriate file and then attach to our thread from my laptop. Sorry no help at all. I am sure someone can give you cues. I know folks post from phones al the time.
Here is my progress for 2.5 Day. It is a mess, far from finished but.... you can kind of get the idea of where it is going. Each colored row of squares is from one swapper sent to me on my birthday a number of years ago. I will keep plodding along until it is finished. As what so often happens over time, I discovered errors, poor stitching and ways that I could have made it easier. Lessons learned and applied to the final rows already.
By the way, I did go to my local JoAnn's and it was like the day after Thanksgiving. Some of the supplies I wanted were gone, but I will check again in a week or so. I did pick up fabric to finish a quilt I committed to finishing for a friend in honor of her mother. Mom purchased fabric from JoAnn's a number of years ago and I was able to almost match what she had picked out and that I need to finish this long term project. She did not buy nearly enough fabric to finish the queen size quilt she had planned. Tomorrow I will check on batting by the roll online. I am not out but if I can get a bargain now, I will.

love the falling charms patterns and seeing the different variations.
And I love the combination of our candies with those stars, WMU.
I don't have a project to show, but I have pretty piles of candies that's fun to look at! these are my leaders/enders and being sewn into pairs by colors. A long term project, for sure.
March birthday candies were mailed today.

LAF, you have captured the spirit of 2.5 Day! It doesn't have to be a finished project, just something you are accomplishing by using our little squares. I wonder what your leaders/enders will turn into? We shall see.
BTW, the second row of colored squares is my Star Trails project are from you. Yes, I have a list of who's squares make up each row. Silly me, I love documenting "stuff".
