I sent out the envelopes today. I have been rather overwhelmed with things lately including my father having 2 medical procedures back to back. One was on last Friday, then another this Monday (okay not back to back, but separated by a weekend). I hope that everyone is doing well. I need to be better at posting, but I have been reading and trying to keep up with all the going on's. I hope to do some sewing this weekend. I need to relax my mind and body with something after this past weeks events.

Heather, maybe some mindless, easy sewing would help your frame of mind. I hope your father will be improved or even healed following his medical procedures. And it’s ok to feel overwhelmed. I felt the same way when it was my dad having open heart surgery twice in 24 hours bc they found a problem from the first surgery. The second one fixed the issue but I was very upset about the whole thing. Take care.

In my deep dive into the sewing room, I found a candy quilt I’d completely forgotten about. I don’t think I posted it here when I finished it several years ago. It’s lots of darks and mediums, no super lights. The sashing is a deep blue green but it looks nearly black in the photo. I love this one because of the little sashing squares. lol.

Heather, mindless sewing, a walk outside, a hot shower and a guilt free nap are all grand ways to calm the build up of stress. I will pray for you this weekend to have a relaxing peaceful time to revitalize and for your father to return to health. "Daughtering" is not an easy task.

Janice your quilt is a lovely example of color balance. If you would have added lights, they would have been a distraction. Well done! Those lights can be used in other ways in other quilts.

It is officially the last days of winter here in Michigan. The sugar maple trees are being tapped for that sweet sap that makes maple syrup for our winter pancakes and waffles. Makes me hungry. Maple syrup festivals abound in my area to celebrate the sweetness of the coming spring season. It was always such a fun time to take my little students to the maple grove and see the amazement in their eyes and happy smiles when they tasted the sap and then the sweet, very sweet syrup. Good memories.

WMUTEACH- spend last few springs in northern NH and we spent weekends visiting the variety of maple shacks. Learning to taste the difference and loving the maple snow. Enjoy

Welcome to March! I need the warmer weather!

My mailbox was stuffed with birthday candies today. I guess the Kansas City USPS sorting office decided to clear out some mail, lol! Today's mailbox included envelopes from:
    Patrick's Mom
    JaniceMcC
    Crispy Frog
    Ibex94
    Redpurselady
    QuiltingPandaBear
    Pamelor
    LaF2019
    WMUTeach
    TravelingGramma

Thank you all! I'll be opening them closer to my birthday.

I'm planning my summer veggie garden and started cleaning out last Falls weeds from the veggie patch. It's so nice to be outside in the fresh air again! I'm thinking of broccoli, carrots, beans, tomatoes, and peppers.

NZ, Wowzers! what a haul in one day! Your mailman must have had to drive a bigger vehicle. Three Cheers for our super swappers. Hip, hip, hurray! Hip, hip, hurray! Hip, hip, hurray!

Keep wishing for warmer weather. Today it was 23 for the high and currently 20 with a feels like at 8 in the mitten. Burrrr . Did some one say, "In like a Lion?" Where is that lamb?

I spent the day cutting fabric for a Cleopatra's Fan quilt. I was asked to finish a quilt that was started by a friend's mother before she passed away. I started it almost two years ago and with one thing and another am returning to it. I must get 'r done. A quilty friend has an AccuQuilt Go and the die for the pattern and she brought them to our quilting work day to day. All I did was cut, cut and cut some more. I have close to 25 blocks fully prepared with all the little pieces matched. The best part is my very trusting friend is going on vacation and let me take her AccuQuilt Go home so I can finish the rest of the cutting. Next few weeks will be dedicated to making Cleopatra's fan blocks with some Boom Blocks sprinkled in.

My 2.5 quilt is going to languish on the quilt wall I think, unless I get bored. Anything fun, new, interesting under your needles?

Nice to hear from you, Nelco. How is your stitching going or just life in general?

I mailed my candies today, won’t be p/u until tomorrow though. They should arrive on time.

I’m still working on my, Traffic Jam” and “Water Taffy Super Hero’s,”. I’m pushing on getting one of these done before mid month. And the other one done by EOM.

I have quilted 3 tops for a friend. 2 throws and a baby top. Tomorrow I will quilt a QOV top for my guild and later in the week quilt 2 more twin tops. One for me and another for my friend.

happy sewing/quilting everyone. Send quilting hugs and prayers for sick/ill family members and fellow sewers/quilting friends. Take care everyone and enjoy our improving weather conditions. Next week is daylights saving time. Yea. I enjoy this time of year.
