I've mentioned before that scraps drive me crazy. They make the most mess in my sewing room. I rarely use them so I donate as much as possible.

I too have mentioned before, scraps are not my thing. I cut 5" squares, charm size. Those are stacked neatly in a box for future use. This past Christmas season, I made up a bunch of coasters with them for sharing with my coworkers. They loved them. I also will cut 2.5" strips, jelly rolls, Those are stored in a separate container, stacked neatly. I once made over 40 placemats with them and donated them to the local meals on wheels program. I don't seem to have to many jelly roll cuts right now because I've been making jelly roll rugs and table runners and also fabric bowls with 2.5" strips, so I can make them scrappy looking or pull coordinating fabric from stash to make the project.
Those are my two preferred sizes to cut from scraps, everything else is either tossed, or put in a gallon size bag and donated to a local thrift store for the crumb quilters out there if it's a usable size.

I quit just tossing all the scraps in together. Small scraps I cut into 2 1/2", 3 1/2" and 5 1/2" squares. This uses up the small scraps and makes them into shapes and sizes that I can easily use. Right now, I also have a box of 2 1/2" by 4 1/2" in rectangles for a specific scrappy quilt I'm going to make. It has made the scraps much easier to store and use.

I find a scrap quilt pattern I want to do first. I am currently working on Bonnie Hunter’s Unchained quilt pattern. Lots of people cut there scraps into certain sizes, that never works for me.

As I say, I love to pet the fabric. So pawwing through scraps is enjoyable to me. I have 2 projects going. 2/5" squares and strips.

Then I work at them in 10 minute intervals. When I can't settle myself down, I can work on scraps.

I'm collecting for a third project. Need very light value 4.5" squares. PM me if you'd like to donate.
