I just line up the seams and fold down top seam to make sure they line up at the 1/4" stitching line. Then place a straight pin on the side that feeds into machine first. When I stitch up to the pin, I hold the other side when removing pin to stitch.
I was wondering how to press the seam open if they are glued?

I do as Stitchnripper and Quiltedsunshine do. Place one pin straight up and down through the seams of the two pieces to join. Holding that pin upright/perpendicular to the unit, place pins on either side then remove the center pin. I also (gasp!) sew over pins most of the time. Not quickly, mind you, but it does help to keep everything in place.

Your blocks look extremely well lined up, btw. Doesn't look like you're having much of a problem at all!

fold the left side of the seam on the top piece over to the right as though you want to nest them.
once they are tightly nested, put a pin to the right of the top seam allowance and then pin to the left, letting the left side of the seam fall back into its "open place."

i learned from a friend to also put a few basting stitches across each intersection and check to make sure it has all remained lined up. those few extra steps have saved me loads of time i might have had to spend fixing "kka-joings" at intersections.

Diluted (one to one) Elmer’s School glue is what I use. When you press the seam open, the tip of the iron often opens the glued pieces. Otherwise, I just open them with my fingers as I press.
