By any chance, was the magazine Country Sampler? They show a lot of different curtains. Allfreecrafts .com has a tut to make simple curtains with valance. I'm not quite sure what you are looking for.

Hi. I saw your PM but thought I'd answer here in case others were still looking as well. Prairie curtains are essentially just tab top curtains. Are you planning full length of window for the curtains? I've done them as valances; lower half window. Depends on where and look you are going for. Have you made any other curtains before? If you like, PM me again with what you're looking to do and I can get you going.

Thank you NJ Quilter for posting here. I believe that the pattern referred to are the ones that have a slight diagonal drawcord and look like

or

I found a couple so called tutorials, that don't have any pictures and looking at the ones above, it kind of looks like the drawcord dimensions could be altered a bit to look better according to the length.

I could not access your link. Here is a site that has many country type curtains that you can at least have a visual to refer to.
Light Airy Curtains | The Country Village Shoppe
After posting I saw where a few people found what you are wanting to make. I agree that they are just a longer version on a valance with the addition of a bias casing to the back to cause it to be able to draw up the curtain with strings. My all-time favorites I made were priscillas that criss -crossed. I loved those curtains in the country living room. Ah that was many years ago. LOL!

Janey, thanks for those visuals. Have not seen the drawstring style previously. When my SIL asked me to make the 'prairie curtains' she wanted I asked her for a picture as I'd not heard the term and she showed me tab top so that's what I made her!
