I like samplers also but the beauty of this quilt is that I only made one of the blocks. The Boom group here on the Quilting Board made them. I submitted fat 8ths of my focus fabric that is then distributed to everyone participating and they make a block of their choice using my focus fabric. I do the same for them. the blocks using our fabric is then returned to us and we can put them together any way we wish. You can pop over to the Boom Block thread Boom-33-stars-t325654.html and see what the group is doing this spring. If you click on https://boomerangswaps.weebly.com/ you can take a peak at what each participant is making and receiving. This is a nice supportive group of quilters who use their blocks in many different ways. Check out the group. It may be something that you would like to give a try in the future. This is my third time and I like it better each time. The commitment is for about 3 months and then there is a break and you can step back or join again.

I'm jumping in to join you! I started in January with making a list of UFOs and set a goal of using up 10 yards of fabric per month. Made the goal in January but it didn't include any of the UFOs, I made a baby quilt and gifted a bunch of black and white 12 1/2" blocks (some from a swap on here!) and fabric to go with it to a friend so I can whittle down some of my stash. February I failed, no completions at all. This month I hope to do better, we shall see.

Wow! I'm gone a week and so many have jumped on board. Welcome one and all!
And... TaDa!... I finally have a finish. These are left over blocks from two block swaps on another board in 2017 & 18. One swap was Autumn Rustic Cabin and another was Nature in Fall. I made a quilt from both swaps but had several blocks left over so combined them. Only two blocks are mine.
I have another UFO top finished but still need to quilt it, so won't include it here. But maybe I can get it done this week so it counts as a March finish.

Nice way to use the left-overs, Belfrybat. At my quilt group meeting tonight the topic was orphan blocks. You made good use of your "orphans". Keep up the good work! Now I just need to apply it, but then I also have a pile of UFO's to finish. I'm going for the UFO's. My orphans will just have to wait for a while longer.

I was digging about in a box of fabric that had been donated to me about three years ago. The quilter was an art quilter who passed away and her husband was cleaning out her sewing studio. I was looking for some large print fabric for a mystery quilt but what did I find? Several bags of partially constructed projects. Not my UFOs but UFOs none the less. I laid out one last night and discovered it is fabric from a museum that is reproduction of 1830 - 1840 prints. This quilt will be mine. The salvage said, Clarissa White - Shelborne Museum Fabric by RJR. Snooped about and found the museum. One of their claims to fame is they have an individual who recreates the patterns from antique quilts and I found the pattern that uses the fabric I have, but it has already been cut and made into four-patches. I will continue to make something using what is already created and the two yards of uncut goods. A good project for my upcoming retreat.

Yes, after all of that snooping and discovery, I found about a dozen different LARGE print fabrics I could use for my mystery quilt. Now, to choose just one.

Those real repos ... what a treasure!

As opposed to the repos commonly available to quilters.

I so want to get started on this one, but................. I have some UFOs to finish and some tops to layer and quilt first. Another reason to get the UFOs out of my life, so I can freely start a new quilt when I get the inspiration. Tee-Hee-Hee!

I did not get my March #8 UFO finished. But I did get the additional blocks made and all are sewn together. I was a busy girl addressing UFO's but not our March Challenge.

#2- Spring Boom blocks were made into a hospice quilt and that is out the door.
#12 - Star Trails is now a flimsy rather than a project hiding out in a plastic box
#8 - Exchange blocks from 2023 - top finished but not quilted
#9 - On the Lake - Donation Quilt is layered and ready to quilt (no photo)
#4 - Rainbow Checkerboard square top is layered and ready for quilting. (no photo)

Ready for our April Challenge.
