For March and April: I’m working with batiks. I finished 2 tops and gave them to my church to finish and donate.

I also finished a non batik top with blocks I made last year and some UFO blocks that were in a donation.

Approximately, 10 yards out in March.

I can’t get my larger quilts to upload as I can’t find a way to resize. 🤷‍♀️. Any ideas? I am on an IPad.

I don't have an ipad, but I know on my lap top there is a place where I can resize photos easily. Have you googled " how to resize a photo on an ipad"? That well often bring up the help, often a video, to help you out.


PS. I have not bought an fabric in the month of April. I have made about 30 four-patches that measure 3 inches. All from stash!

Retiredteacher, here is how I post from my ipad.
use the go advanced under the box here where I am typing
Then click on the paperclip
choose file…..choose photo library
BEFORE choosing your photo… on the bottom right of screen there are two rectangle type boxes with dots, click that
options pop up
move the check mark to MEDIUM, then click done
then choose photo, click done
click UPLOAD
at bottom, click close window and SUBMIT

Move across the nation changed my thinking. Being retired with a low $$$ portfolio, changed my thinking. Attending to my mental health changed my thinking.
I do less extravagant thinking. I'm more content with what I have and what I can do with it . I think about the fabric sitting in the garage going out of style. (although some of it is quality not available today.)

And I'm more thankful for contributions other people give me.

Pet, I started out with my SIL's stash and have existed primarily on donations and bargains for more than 20 + years. It is really quit amazing what can be made with donations and how, if we are not careful, those donations can fill our lives and sewing space. I find I only shop for background and some backing because all of the BIG pieces I had are gone. Even these are on sale or off of sale shelves. About once a year I will purchase fabric for one quilt that is all new. That is a treat and something to look forward to.

I can now say since I just bound these quilts yesterday and today that I've used in March alone at least 22 yards of fabric and scraps. I also gave away 25 yards of fat quarters, scraps and yardage back in early March or maybe it was late February.

I'm working on the Exploding Heart pattern which called for 15 fat quarters plus 4.25 yards for the background and it will be done within the week as a flimsey. So i"m on a roll. Got another quilt on the frame that I made back 4-5 years ago so once it's done, I'll add that to my yardage used.

So glad to find my mojo again and making use of it as best I can. My goal is to get 3 more oversized lap quilts plus 4 queen/king size quilts quilted and out of the house to their recipents, hopefully by the end of this month in by end of May. That will leave me only 4 queen/king size quilts left to quilt up.

Oh my, such wonderful stories and reports of fabric out! I was trying to reply to them all individually but other things have just popped up to interrupt my posting and I returned to the computer to a "leave page?" button that I clicked before realizing it was leaving my unsaved comments which are now lost. So... you are all amazing as amazing can get and thank you for sharing your progress reports!!!

I had a small side trip off the wagon this week - I needed some more bobbins (this has been on my shopping list for over a year) and I found a backing fabric for my string quilt in the clearance corner of my not-so-local quilt shop. I waffled for a while but I knew I had already checked my stash for something big enough that would work and had come up with nothing. When I got it home I realized I had chosen a fabric that not only toned in beautifully with the front but also with the fabric I had decided on for the binding and it was only $10/m. Even better? This fabric and the bobbins are being paid for as a birthday present (I'm at the stage where the stress of trying to come up with a wish list is worse than knowing I'm getting older!) so while the string quilt won't get finished for a little bit as I'm trying to get a couple of older UFOs out of my life first, the fabric came in already knowing it's got a home. :-)

Yea for pre-planning, Gemm! Good find and won't it feel grand when you finish the string quilt to just swivel around and pull out the backing. Whoo-hoo for you!.

I am at a quilt retreat and I worked a top that is all 1830's reproduction prints. These are based on the fabric found in an antique quilt housed in a Vermont Quilt museum. The simple four-patch blocks and a two yard piece of companion fabric were found in a box of odds and end that had been donated to me about three years ago. The salvage of the companion fabric took me on a google journey to locate the designer of the reproduction fabric, the museum and just a little about quilter who made the original quilt in the 1840s to 1850's. I love historical journeys and this was an unexpected one. Now I need to decide what to do with the companion fabric. It is not enough for the back so it may become a border. Not sure.

Tomorrow.........finishing up a mystery quilt from 2020 or making square in a square blocks using 2.5" birthday swap squares and stash. Choices, choices, choices.

I need to keep up with all of you folks who have been making such progress in April and it is only the 4th! Yikes, I need to get a move on!
