as i cut it i feed it over the side of my cutting station to puddle into a paper bag or small box on the floor. i clip the end to the side of the bag so i don't have to hunt for it when it's time to bind the quilt.

i don't normally press my binding in half ahead of time any more. if i do, i empty the bag onto the ironing surface then feed the pressed binding back into the was-empty-again bag or box on the floor.

I find it easiest to sew if I just have it on the floor. I've tried other methods, but haven't found one I like as well.

I put a waste basket by my ironing board as I’m pressing the binding before attaching it. This serves as the place for my puddle which I set to my right as I sew it on.

I just keep the binding puddled on my lap then feed it onto the quilt as I sew.

I've just gotten some binding holders from Quilt in a Day as they were a daily deal last week. As I send quilts to be quilted, sometimes I have binding sitting around for a few weeks before it is needed. Previously, I put it in a ziplock bag until I was ready to use it, then just let it fall by my feet. Most of my quilts are large - queen or king size - so doing that can cause it to get wadded up, if not actually in a knot.

I keep the fold in the binding secure by spritzing it with Best Press before ironing it in half ( a la Sharon Schamber). I then roll it up and put a rubber band around it. Per Schamber's method, I glue one side of the binding at a time with school glue, heat set and sew that, with the excess binding in the rubber band somewhere near where I'm stitching, so it doesn't drag.

I do the same. My DH made the "letter holder" for me several years ago.

I prefer to lay the quilt out on the floor and pin the binding in place. I fold the excess binding on my thumb and little finger to make a "skein." Then I hold it together with a "dewy-bobber" (elastic pony tail holder). It stays together as I sew, then I pull enough from the skein to pin the next side.

Is it weird I knew what you meant by "dewy-bobber"? Way back in the 60's we had a sack of toys called deelie-bobbers, little plastic rounds that you could build with. For some reason, my sisters and I started calling our pony tail holders deelie-bobbers, and still do. Prior to that instead of rubber bands, we called them rinder-binders.
