I have been having a hard time lately, but wanted to join in on sharing my first "quilt." My youngest daughter asked me to make her a new bed puff as she called it about 8 years ago. She loved colored pencils. I had never done a quilt top before, but had sewn basically everything but a quilt. My daughter found a colored pencil pattern that was supposed to be a flat bottom heart wall hanging. She fell in love with it, so I decided to give it a shot. It turned out to be a foundation paper piecing pattern, but I actually loved this process as a beginner, and still love it today. Additionally, She wanted a "puff" so I got creative. I needed this quilt top to cover an antique canopy bed that is very tall. So I created this quilt top, added extra "broken pencil" side drop panels and a top panel to cover the pillows. To become her much wanted puff, I turned the top into a duve cover. It has a down inner comforter inside. The top has an added zipper at the bottom and can easily come off for cleaning. Not sure if it qualifies as a quilt or not, but it was my first big bedding project.

Hello everyone again, If my other post about the duve cover doesn't count as a quilt, I wanted to share this traditional- 3 layer sandwiched quilt that I made for my Father. I both hand tied and hand quilted this quilt and it is one of my absolute favorites. I hand quilted a vine pattern along the outer border as well.

Heathermom - wow on both . I have done the crayon quilt and doubt I would have ever been able to "start quilting" with it. Great job of adapting to all her criterias! And your fathers is also over the top - love that you hand stitched it too!
I needed another tote bag and had some leftover nine patch candys. Nascar race was on yesterday so put this one together. I played around with the inside pockets and my first attempt at adding a zippered insert.
Enjoy your day

Heather, two outstanding quilts. Yes, the first one counts. All of your sewing background surely made it easier to take on the pencil quilt and the curved blocks in the quilt for your father. Three cheers for you!
TG, what fun to see those little squares at work in your bag. I have used the star fabric on the inside before and like it enough to buy more again if I stumble upon it! A bag in a day, must have meant a long NASCAR race! Tee-Hee-Hee!
Thanks for the photos of your work, Swappers!
