We've had the machines several years now and have had zero problems.

The washer is a top loading machine with an agitator. I prefer a top loading machine because I have the option to soak items and there are no mold issues like with the front load machines. The washing machine allows me to select the temperature and amount of water, level of dirt, size and type of load (e.g. handwash, regular, bulky, etc.).

The dryer allows me to select timed or sensor drying (e.g. damp, less dry, dry), the temperature and type of load (delicate, permanent press, bulky, etc.). It even has options for pet items, steam refresh, steam sanitize, etc. The door swings open to the side, not downward like on my previous dryer. Because I'm short, that makes it much easier to reach into the back and grab that one sock always hiding there. The lint trap has a very fine screen so it does an excellent job catching every bit of lint and dog hair from our two collies.

When I made a rag quilt a couple of years ago, everyone told me to wash it the first time at the laundromat and not at home. I was surprised to see the laundromat had my identical Speed Queen washer. Considering how much abuse laundromat machines are subject to, I think that says a lot about the quality of the Speed Queens. I wouldn't hesitate to purchase a Speed Queen washer and dryer again and highly recommend them. I love both machines.
Can you tell me which model you have? I have an 8 year old Maytag that has given us such frustration. I have researched and Speed Queen is the brand I want just trying to decide on model.

What KalamaQuilts said. Our LG without agitator is so deep I have to use long tongs to get the clothes out. Am short so nearly fell in head first. Would not have chosen this washer, it came with the house. Previously had a front loader which was a better fit.

When my LG went bad at 5 years, 2 months (it had a 5 year warranty GRR), I called a repairman out who said the repair cost was nearly equal to a new machine. I asked him which brands he would recommend. He told me LG and Speed Queen. Well, I wasn't going to get another LG, so I got the Speed Queen. A bit pricey but 3 years out I really like it.

End of cycle alert is no longer standard. If important to you, be sure to check. Whirlpool washer and Amana dryer. Both work great but no end of cycle beep is missed.

Which model did you get? I’m trying to decide on one..between the TC5 and the TR5.

I just bought a Speed Queen washer and dryer a few months ago. I absolutely love it! I can put as much in it as my 8 year old Whirlpool even though the outside dimensions are much smaller because you can load it all the way full. The smaller machine fits in my "laundry room" much better. I use the term loosely because this house really has a laundry hallway between the garage and the kitchen. The wash cycle averages a little over 30 minutes. It takes me a few hours to do 5 or 6 loads of laundry versus a whole day with the Whirlpool. I bought to top of the line and it comes with a 7 year warranty. I think it's a TR7. I'm not sure.

Thank you so much for the reply. I知 really hoping I can get mine in the next couple of months. I知 waiting till my kids move so I can give them the washer I have (works but frustrating but they値l appreciate it). I can稚 believe a wash cycle takes you only 30 min! Amazing!

Yes! It's so nice! Like the old machines that clean clothes in a half hour instead of an hour and a half. With a 7 year warranty, I figured it must me made pretty well. You might check availability in your area. When I bought mine they didn't have any of the TR5 machines and said they are never sure when they will come in and once in the sell out quickly. If you're going to have to wait for it, you might want to order now.

I have heard nothing but great things about Speed Queen. I do have a dealer about 45 min away and they have me on the list to call when they get a shipment. I fact, they just called this morning because they’d gotten some but, alas, I’m not ready yet. Darn! But she said they will check with me again in a couple of months so there’s hope yet!
