Virtual Quilt Weekend, oh yea! That means Saturday will be an all day sew-in and maybe even part of Friday too. Sunday, well, I will see. Thanks for the reminder, Happylab. I really like a designated time to sit and focus on just working on my projects for the month.

I started a new 2.5 quilt top at one of my donation quilt making groups. That would be a good one to dive into to finish. Just sewing strings, long strings of pairs of 2.5's that will become four-patches, that will become rows that will be come a medium throw for donation. Simple cross-hatch quilting and done, well almost done.

Good morning everyone! A gorgeous day. Did anyone happen to see the strawberry moon? I woke up and there was this bright light shining through the blinds in my bedroom and what do you know..... it was pink. Not strawberry red, but definitely pink. What a marvelous little event.

In my area of the country our Native American tribes have a Strawberry Festival this time of the year. This is a time when they dedicate themselves not to strawberries but to their babies born in the previous year. The tribe, not just the parents, make pledges/promises to love and care for the children and help the families raise the children to be honorable tribal members. The babies are gifted with sacred plants and given a quilt made by the elder women of the tribe as well as other native objects of importance. Each quilt is different and includes appliqued tribal symbols to remind the child as it grows older that they are tribal members. Why strawberries? Because they are shaped like a heart. And this year a strawberry moon too. I had the opportunity to attend the festivities a few years back and it was such a lovely meeting of all generations of the tribe to welcome in new babies and to bless them.

I wonder what makes the moon appear red/pink at this time of the year? Humm.

Thank you WMU for the Strawberry moon history! I was so anxious for the full moon on my birthday, but it was too cloudy. Thanks, too for the Ms. FROG and chocolate cake!

Yah, I saw that classy dame with shades and a chocolate cake and just had add her to my collection, especially for you. It is cloud here today and a bit on cool side, but never fear, the warm temps are returning in the next few days. Honestly I could live with low 80's for the rest of the summer and skip the 90's and days pushing 100 degrees.

I just glanced at the weather note in the corner of my screen and it says 64 degrees - rain/snow ahead. What? Snow at 64 degrees, I don't think so!. I will happily take the rain to keep the marsh lush and happy.

Heads up everyone, the list of July birthdays will come to you on June 15.

Glad mine arrived. Sorry for being late. Managing 32 people at CHP had completely zapped me. Will do better in July.

Hello everyone, I may be talking to an empty conversation today because it is a day to be with dads and all of those who have filled that role in your family and not chatting online. The July birthday list went out just a few minutes ago to your PM. If you see errors let me know and I will correct them ASAP. In the meantime, enjoy your memories and family celebrations today and I will see you later this week.

Thanks for the updates, Crispy and Red.

I decided to tackle my abundance of 2.5's in a different way. I am trying to empty one box of fall colors, brown, tan, yellow, orange and a few rusty reds. Not the most exciting way to make a quilt top but the full box is now about 80% empty. going for 100%. Just randomly sewing them together. The only planning is to not put two identical squares together. I will report on progress on June 25.
