I finished 2 oversized lap quilts this month and hoping I'll have the 3rd one finished by this weekend if all goes well but it will be close. The finished ones are the Drunkard's Path x 2 for a couple in my congregation. The 3rd one also goes to someone in my congregation but I don't plan on giving it to him until I quilt his parents' quilt. Have one more large quilt to do for a couple in the congregation and once I get these all done, I'll give all 5 out to the recipents at the same time. Then I'm done with the congregation for awhile until I finish the rest of the quilts waiting to be quilted and handed out.

I was thrilled to get a call from my long arm quilter that one of my quilts, a 2014 UFO was finished. I dashed over, picked it up and will add the binding this weekend. Hope to have it finished by Monday so I can post a photo and count it as DONE! She has one more that is nearly an UFO that is next on her list. That will be grand to have that big old quilt ready to call finished too. It will be finished later in to the month of July.

Snooze, your productivity is amazing me. Keep it up, you are making us all look good at finishing UFOs.

Well, I wasn't able to get the 3rd lap quilt finished in time for June's count but I did get the 2 Drunkard's path quilts done but haven't had time to photograph them. They were custom quilted using 2 different threads. This 3rd one I was having a heck of a time with my aurifil thread snapping every couple inches so I finally searched for a thread in a similar blue color to finish the center of the quilt. All I have left to do is stitch out all those words in the 2 corners and finish off the border on that end and it will be done with quilting. Maybe sometime this week I'll get it finished for you. Darn it all, I sure was trying to get all 3 of them done this month as that would put me at 9 quilts finished and out the door in 4 months.

July's goal is 2 queen size quilts to be quilted and out the door so hopefully I'll have better luck next month. One of them was made back in February as the other one was made 6-7 years ago so definitely a UFO for sure.

Laughing, I have about 12 hours to finish my UFO. Time to get off the computer and into the sewing room to add the binding on my 11 year old UFO!. Bye!

Such a lovely finish Quossum. I really like it.

Well it’s time again to select our July UFO number. So this month’s number is = #9. My number 9 is the BHMQ called Grassy Creek. I have the blocks made for mystery size. But I want to enlarge to my king size measurements. So I need a few more blocks and have decided to string sew the 3.5” by 9.5” sashing verses just cutting out the brown fabric. I cut out the brown sashing and it just didn’t look right to me. Too much dark brown. So this 1st week or so, I’m making strings. Then I will sew the project together. Quilt and bind.

FYI = this is VQW.

Have a fabulous 4th of July week and weekend everyone. Enjoy our independence and being free and stay safe.

I finished my June UFO about 9:30 last evening! Yeah, just in the nick of time. Right? What I discovered not last night or even when I took photos but this afternoon when I sent a photo to my daughter........ one block was put in upside down. Amazing to me is the number of folks many of them quilters who missed this as well as myself. Too late now, it is quilted, bound and will now be labeled as my "2014 Mystery Quilt - Error". Haven't decided yet whether to keep it and giggle at it now and again or send it off as a donation quilt.

I have already done my #9 in my rush to finish UFO's so I will be doing another one that is just lurking about in the pile. I am going to commit to my Star Trails quilt from 2022 or 2023. I will double check to be sure of the date before I finish.

Well, it took me three "scans" of your picture, WMU, to see the upside-down block. I'm sure most people won't notice it if you don't draw attention to it. It's a great quilt! :-)

Oooh, excited to get going on my #9, which is to repurpose a very worn old quilt that I made for my husband many years ago. He used it well, and it’s quite patchy and threadbare now, so with the life remaining in it…hmm, it might have some pieces that can be converted to crate pads, we shall see.

I also would like to show off a picture of me and my sisters holding our long-awaited Sunbonnet Sue quilts. Mom was really pleased to see the culmination of this 40-years-in-the-making project!

Quossom: I love your Sunbonnet Sue quilts! I’m glad your mother enjoyed seeing them finished.
