Love the bright cheery colors, Janice!
Your blues create such a calm quilt, WMU!
I have been absent from the boards for quite a while, as we have been in a bit of a housing pickle due to chaos and change with our rental situation. But I believe it was actually a blessing in disguise, as we are now in process of closing on a new (to us) home purchase. We are very excited and will be in by mid August. After frequent moving since 2021 (5 states - from Florida to Alaska and places in between), we are happy to settle in and hopefully not move again for a long time!
That being said, I was sure to keep my candy packages accessible in storage and august birthdays are on their way.
I do not have any projects to share, but I have a project thought to share. Has anyone turned a cross-stitch pattern into a candy project? I came across this randomly - a cross stitch that looks like a quilt pattern and didn't see why it couldn't go the opposite way.

LAF2019, congratulations of a "forever home". I am can't imagine all of those moves but there was certainly a good reason for such a wide ranging adventure. At the very least, you discovered what pleases your heart and now you have stories to tell.
The cross stitch pattern looks like such fun. It could make use of strips or squares or a combination of both. I for one am anxious to see what you do and your progress to the finish. I am assuming that you have plethora of squares. How long have you been with the group? I have lost track. Back when Barbara was the hostess I am thinking.
Have fun planning and moving and settling and relaxing in your new abode.

LAF congratulations on your new forever home. We moved 4 years ago after living in my home for 44 years. Oh what a chore that was
Janice love your colors!

LAF2019, congratulations on your new house. Moving is no easy chore but once you are settled for a little while, it’ll be home.
Im slowly putting my rows together. Am about half done. Lots of seams to match so it’s going more slowly than I hoped. I lose interest fast when there’s a lot of pinning. Anyway, it’s coming along. Hope to have a pic of the finished top in a few days.
Enjoy your weekend and stay cool.

Two days late to show a finish on 2.5 day but it’s a top now. Yay. It needs to be trimmed and stay stitched but I won’t do that until I’m ready to quilt it. Happily it’s small and should be easily quilted. Probably crosshatched or maybe just meandered. Don’t know yet.

Ran down to the PO today and found four birthday envelopes waiting for me.

Thank you to all. Quilting stuff is all packed up for a while, so it is nice to have some new fabric to pet and sort and admire. Thank you!

Yeah, the birthday packages are beginning to arrive. Mine left the mailbox this morning.
I thought I would pass along the link to another group on the QB that has been mentioned from time to time here on our thread because a number of us swappers are also in the Boom group too. The Boomerang group is a three month commitment to make a block for the other participants using their fabric. I gave it a try about two years a go and I find it fun, sometimes a challenge but always good opportunity to work on my own basic skills as I try a new pattern of my choice..
We feel like chatty friends and look forward to retirements, traveling, pets, grandchildren, good food, crummy days, generally our everyday life as quilters. Here is the link for the current announcement and information about the next 3-month Boom: Boom 34
Or you can find it in the Member Swaps/Round/Row Robins area of the QB. Questions? Ask our Janice McC.
Hot and sticky continues in the mitten. I was wishing for a reprieve, but not this week. It looks like much of the nation is in the same hot summer weather pattern. Time to make lemonade out of the weather lemons and finish quilting my 2.5 for July.

Hello All..... The birthday envelopes were mailed today. I found out that the "rules" for ground advantage have changed again. I don't understand the when and why's behind whomever keeps making these changes. So, I will cross my fingers and hope that they arrive in one piece. My third of 4 children, my darling youngest daughter will be heading for her Freshman year of college in 3 weeks. It seems like it will be a world away to have her at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond. While I know she will be following her dreams, from very Northern NYS, the 11 hour drive away from her is so hard to come to terms with.
Best to everyone......very hot and muggy here and we are not an AC area, so heat hits us hard up here.

WMUTeach, thank you for the Boom 34 shoutout! We love our core group but would welcome some new folks as they inject new ideas and life into us. Anyone with questions can PM me or email me and I’ll be happy to help.
Well we just had a thunderstorm that while not too loud, dumped nearly a half an inch of rain in just about 20 minutes. Phew! The skies are still dark but we shouldn’t have anymore today.
Hope everyone is staying cool wherever you are!
