My August candies left with the mail person today!
I can’t believe it’s nearly August. This has truly been one of strangest years in my life for way time has passed. Took the dog in today for his 6 week postop for CCL/meniscal surgery and the vet is very happy with his mobility and range of motion. It’s nice sometimes to have some external validation you’re doing something right. We all need a foil Star sticker for the calendar now and then.

It would be wonderful to welcome new quilters to the boom block exchange. It is so much fun, working with all the different beautiful fabrics and creating great blocks for others. While marveling at the wonderful blocks being created for you.

Heather, I agree the long trips to see children is miserable and heartbreaking. My wandering daughter took out a map and drew a circle around our home town on a map and chose a college within that circle. Good girl. It was also a bit self-serving because she could also come home to raid the cupboard, get away from her room mate and to wash clothes for free at home.
On the other hand my oldest child made an unexpected shift and left college for a nanny job on Long Island, NY. That is my 11 hour drive from Michigan to LI. I made the trip only once in three years. It was painful to have her so far away but in hindsight she really needed the independence of living on her own and making her own choices. She came home ready to finish school, pursue an independent life and looks back fondly on those years. Children making choices is hard, really hard on parents.
Happy stitching, everyone and enjoy whatever the day brings.

Two days late to show a finish on 2.5 day but it’s a top now. Yay. It needs to be trimmed and stay stitched but I won’t do that until I’m ready to quilt it. Happily it’s small and should be easily quilted. Probably crosshatched or maybe just meandered. Don’t know yet.

Another happy find in my mailbox today! Thank you, fellow August birthday girl, LAF2019!
Also, since we mentioned stickers earlier, I thought y’all would like to see this picture of my kitchen calendar. I love seeing all the fun events marked on it!

Your calendar IS fun, Quossum! I used to do some of that when I used a paper calendar. I started using an electronic calendar when I was working. That way I could keep work, personal and social events in just one place. But I like yours immensely. Time for foil stars is right! My electronic calendar now has smiley faces I can add. I use them some times but not every day. Not nearly as much fun as lambs, dogs and clinking champagne classes.

Janice and WMUTeach -- lovely quilts!. I better get my candies in the mail.
Just back from a KY/Indiana trip. My pup has a nose bleed again. Is it allergies from traveling or something more lethal like an abscess or tumor? Could be something stuck up there but this is her second nosebleed after travelling. My sister-in-law the vet said go get her xrayed. I need to make sure it isn't something awful. Taking my pup for xrays tomorrow. Sedation is necessary (for her) to allow for lots of looking and to hold still for the xrays.
The other really big news in my life is that my husband is retiring. Yay! If he gets cranky I will make him go get a job. :-)
