We had an Alco store that sold fabric. All the name brands too. There was a sale about twice a year for 60% off fabric to move it for restocking. I stocked up on Moda and Marcus fabrics. Seems civil war colors was popular then. Still have yardage of that fabric.

The store was called Sew-Fro in neighboring town. I used to shop there a lot when they were in the mall. Withe 3 teenage daughters, I spent a lot of time at the mall.

There still is a Ben Franklin store up in Juneau,Alaska. I do remember going into a House of Fabrics in Bend,Oregon. My aunt worked there. We also had a place called Daisy Kingdom here in downtown Portland, Oregon.

I used to go to Ben Franklin's with my mom when I was a child. She sewed a lot of my clothes. I still remember the smell when you walked in.
my mom also made several Frostline coat kits for us when i was growing up.
