Embroidery threads pulling out

Embroidery threads pulling out
I have made a few hooded towels and added names to them. on 2 different occasions the thread for the last letter in the name starts coming out. The machine does several final stitches, which seems like it would lock the stitches in, but they don't. I have wondered if I should make sure I pull the top thread to the back and tye it off instead of just relying on that locking stitch. Hope this all makes sense. Anyway, can someone tell me what I might be doing wrong?

which are the brand and model of your machine?
what kind of thread is in the top? and bottom?
what kind of stabilizer did you use on the bottom? top?
you're lucky if you are able to pull enough top thread through to tie it off. it does seem an efficient way to solve the problem - assuming you can pull and leave enough bobbin thread, too..
my machine automatically locks, ties and cuts the threads at the end of a run. the stitches have never come loose but it leaves little tails of thread on the back. unless the appearance of the back is really important i leave them. i always worry that if i cut them off too closely to the knot it will all come loose.
what kind of thread is in the top? and bottom?

I'm not sure why the first one doesn't but the last one always does, lol.
My machine is a very old Brother PE150, yes that old and still going strong.
I use Brothread on top and the bobbin thread is some prefilled bobbins a friend gave me so I'm not sure of the brand.
This happened on towels so I used tear away and wash away on the back, and wash away on the front.
It could be that I should not trim the bobbin thread so close, especially since the back will be covered so no one would see little tails anyway.

Good morning, I don't usually post anything but I thought I'd put in my two cents to this. I am new to machine embroidery. I've done kitchen towels, pillows, hats, baby items, t shirts, sweatshirts.
What I've learned through watching many videos.......cut the threads in the back, upper and bobbin, but leave a smidge of a tail. Don't cut so close the knot. Also, people use fray check on these threads as well after cutting them. I have once but don't always.
I've never had a problem with threads coming out at the knot in the back, but I must of cut too close to an actual stitch once and had to hand stitch a tiny section....a pair of baby pants hanging from a clothes line, so it was just a couple of single stitches I had to repair.
I use a Brother Innovis 1250E and love Brother machines, my sewing machine is a Brother as well... They are reasonably priced, user friendly and work horses.
