I just finished quilting a queen size quilt and just took it off the frame so still need to trim it and then add the binding but won't be able to do it till Tuesday so won't make August goal. Oh well, at least I tried.

I finished Crop Circles in the nick of time!
This pattern was a foray into curved piecing, a pattern from the book Stack a New Deck. I was going to do a piano keys border, but when I put the strips next to the top, I didn’t like how busy it looked (when the interior was already pretty busy!) so opted for solid border, but I used the border strips on the back.
This quilt was a bit of a learning experience not just with the curves but with color theory. The whole thing looks very muddled; I should have incorporated more varied values. You know what they say: Color gets all the credit, but value does all the work!

Quossum, I like your "Crop Circles". You have courage and now you have the skills to tackle even more curves.
I finished the binding on my August UFO, just need to add the label in the morning. Photo tomorrow when I can catch the sun for a snapshot.
I have already set out a quilt for my September UFO and a second just in case I get really ambitious.

Happy Labor Day everyone. Our weather has been trending towards fall. For the last week we had low 80’s to mid 70’s for high temperatures. I just love it. Thinking of love, I really enjoy seeing all of your finishes and progress. Beautiful.
So for our next beautiful ufo projects challenge number…. The number for September is #7. Yea, lucky #7. My #7 is BHMQ, “On Ringo Lake.” I stopped working on this mystery b/c I’m undecided on the finished project. A altered king size or full size quilt. I’m leaning toward a full size quilt with matching pillowcase(s) if I have leftover square blocks. I really like this pattern.
Anyway, enjoy working on your UFO’s. !!!!!!! 😜

Ooohh, thanks for the number! My lucky 7 is a Diamonds in Squares string project that I’ve gotten a decent start on, but I’ve got a few blocks to complete and then… everything that follows!
I’ll get started on it once I clean up from Crop Circles and get my Optimism BOM squares done. Welcome, fall!

Here is my August UFO, Star Trails started in 2022. It is finished except for the label. That will come when I find the list of who contributed little 2.5" squares from the 2022 Birthday Swap. Each swapper sent me 50-2.5" squares for my birthday and I chose a selection of squares from each person and assembled them in a row from each swapper.
My next UFO will be a Noah's Ark strip quilt. I also have a second unfinished top, a snowman quilt, that may jump in for September also. I want to finish it for her birthday in December. It will be 11 years in the making!

OMG, I just looked at our thread and discovered that I was the last one to comment and that was nearly three weeks ago. What are you all doing to meet our UFO goal this month? So far I have not done #7 but I am layering a newly discovered UFO this afternoon with plans to quilt it today and add binding by Monday night! The new discovered UFO was a zip lock of HSTs that were given to me about three years ago, maybe 4. Any way, they are now a top for a hospice quilt.
I have one more UFO on my docket for this month that I have been procrastinating about. Isn't that what UFOs are all about anyway, "procrastination"? Tee-hee-hee! Aiming for two this month. Fingers crossed that I don't find any more this year. I already have more than enough to start off 2026 with a flourish.

Well, I hadn't shown what I'd finished this summer to this blog but did show it on another area but here goes again. In June, July and August I was able to finish and gift out to the following: 2 oversized laps of Drunkard's Paths in burgundy & tan, an oversized lap called Abstraction in white/blue/purple, his parent's queen size quilt in purple/yellow called Trail Mix, a free pattern from Quilted Twins' site and a red/white checkerboard in an optical illusion fashion in queen size.
I'm now working on an 2015 UFO, Bonnie Hunter's Allitaire mystery quilt and hopefully it will be quilted and out the door by the end of this month.
This will leave me 3 oversized queen quilt tops left to finish for this year, all from 2017 thru 2019.

Here is my September UFO finish. I came across a bag of HSTs that were given to me a few years ago. I saw there were enough to make a quilt top, so off I went and finished it today. It finished at 50 X 70 and will be donated to a local hospice center.
On to the next UFO. Maybe another by the end of the month.....maybe.
If not on to October.
