I saw the Laurastar Steamer mentioned in another thread. I am looking at the cheapest Red. I had never considered one before but reviews are good. I love my Olsio but have had four of them and only have one in proper working order now and they are not old. Two of them were replacements. I won't be replacing these. My daughter has Rowenta steamer and while it is nice I do not like having to depress for steam. If you have a cheaper model of Laurastar, I would appreciate some feedback please. I sew and quilt and like the option of always on.

I've had 2 LauraStar steamers. My current on is the Lift in Red. I'm not sure if it's the cheapest. You do have to depress a button to get steam. I'm not sure if that's what you mean by "depress for steam". I've never had an iron that you didn't have to press a button for steam. I wouldn't like it if it steamed all the time. I iron without steam more than with steam. I do love my LauraStar's. The first one lasted for over 10 years with daily use and lots of steam use as I was doing a lot of garments then.
I'm with you on the Oliso. It was cute and glitchy and lasted a year or so. I didn't even bother to talk to them about replacing it. I didn't want another one. I wasn't that impressed with it.

I have had a Reliable Maven steam tank iron for eight years now and it is doing great. If it breaks or starts to act up I'll get another one. The price has sure increased. I bought and extra filter and haven't had to change it out yet. The iron will let you know when it's time to change. https://reliablecorporation.com/products/maven-125is-1l-home-ironing-station\

I have one of the "high end" Laurstar steam irons things. I love it for the steam, but I use a LOT of starch when I'm quilting. The Laurstar never seemed to get hot enough to dry the starch so I called the company and asked. Apparently - they don't. Other than that I love the iron, but now have 2 irons on my table.

What is the "another iron that gets very hot" that you are using? I do not like steam to press my fabric and am having problems finding a brand that gets hot enough. Of course, I have only looked at Walmart and that may be my problem.

I'm always a little hesitant with irons that get way hot. If hot dryers aren't good for fabrics, I can't think that very hot irons aren't hard on the fabric also.
