Monday morning, here we go. Another week of fall creeping ever closer and projects bubbling up under our needles. Maybe some holiday quilts? Three cheers to you all for sending out packages/envelopes in time for birthday celebrations. A terrific group of swappers and lovey online friends sending cheer to one another along with "candy" to fill up our creative "candy dish".

A thought just ran through my head. Did any of you have a grandma or auntie with a candy dish always filled with some sort of hard candy treats? My mother-in-law had one and one of my daughters now has it but it is not displayed or filled, I did have an auntie who had one filled with pink wintergreen candies. You know, the candy that looked like Pepto Bismol? Ah, memories.

Time to get the day underway. Have a marvelous Monday.

WMUTeach - you really brought back memories. My grandmother had a covered forged aluminum container on her dining room table. All of us would attempt to open and close it without making a noise. Being light weight it was hard. Fast forward to her passing - we had to draw a name as we all wanted it. Fast forward and I was talking with my cousins adult daughters and I saw the candy dish and shared with them the history. They laughed and said they did it too!!
My other grandma had a candy tin - really a reused metal tin. It was always filled and we could pick a candy anytime we visited them. No one knows what happened to it though .
    Thanks for the memories.

Tomatoes - last year I tried putting washed whole tomatoes in the freezer. When I took them out the peel just slid off and I didn't have to blanch. Otherwise I always blanched, skinned and semi cooked and then froze. Come a cold winter day, they came out and I could simmer the day away!

WMUTeach, I don't understand where your envelope is. Still time, but I mailed them at the same time. Hoping to be able to get sewing more soon. It certainly was a very busy summer. I canned my last items until I tackle apples for this year. I made a wonderful zesty zucchini relish that we enjoy on everything from hamburgers and hot dogs to adding it to egg, potato, chicken and ham salads. It is a 2 day relish to make but it is very much worth it in the end. Starting to be in the 40's at night here, and a nice crispness in the air in the morning. Potentially 1st frost of the year tonight, but I am very much looking forward to the Fall and Winter.

Heather, don't worry about your package yet. It there a week and a half before my day. All will be fine. Close your eyes and dream of envelopes flying from post office to mailbox. Zip... there it is! I will let you know as soon as it arrives.

@Heathermom2opmc I'm jealous of your canning and harvesting productivity! I’ve been on a series of work trips and the garden is gone to ruin. I’m missing my apple harvest right now and my fruits and veggies are possibly gonna get hit with an early frost before I got anything. I am missing my favorite time right now, just as we enter fall and the days are very comfortable and some chill comes into the evenings. Usually a great yard productivity time and cozy evening bonfires.

There are so many of you with cooler weather! I am glad my mornings are cool enough that the AC doesn't run all night but by midday, we are back into hot and sweaty weather. My husband is happy for the warmth. I'm ready for cooler weather.

Thank you for letting me know my package got to you! I worry so much about my beloved post office falling short on its duties.
