Janice Woohoo! Way to go! You inspired me to finish mine today. Your quilt is beautiful the blue looks gorgeous with your brown flying geese.

All 2 pieces fun fruit blocks and lovely fall blocks.

Janice so nice to hear about your husband stepping in to help his aunt and sorry others in the family didn’t jump in and help you both

Good morning, Roses. It’s been raining all night, a nice slow steady rain that we need. I’ve got the windows open just to listen to it.

I know some of you have noticed that a few people aren’t posting. I’ve reached out to them but I’m still waiting to hear back from Ibex. I did get a brief note from Hav so I hope she’ll be posting here soon. I’ll keep after them! Reminder that if you don’t post at least weekly, we begin to wonder if you are well. Please keep up with your posts. Thank you to everyone who does post regularly. I appreciate you!

I’m breathing a sigh of relief that the Bear Branch quilt is finally done! This one is a keeper. I love the colors! I have one other large quilt top that I’m going to take to the LA in a couple of weeks but I need to get or make a backing first. It’s another Bonnie Hunter design named Morning Glories and was pp’d. It’s below.

As for helping our Aunt who needed it desperately, it was the only thing to do. My parents brought in Dad’s aunt when she was in a similar situation so the pattern was set. She stayed with us until she died. I remember those days well and the kindness my parents showed. It’s just what you do with family.

Have a good day!

edited: oops, this one shows the top before it was sewn together. It’ll have to do for now.

Wow Janice, no way would I have the patience for that detailed of a quilt.

I woke up at 3 and couldn’t get back to sleep. I read Janice’s post about finishing her binding, brought out the Ott light and finished mine also. Thanks for the motivation!

Not sure way but my pictures aren’t turning out very well, sent second picture where you can see the beautiful border fabric better

The quilts and blocks on the last 2 pages are wonderful!!! Terri, I'm so glad the meds are helping you. That's great to hear.

My husband has been dealing with severe back issues. Over the weekend he could hardly walk. He's been getting injections but they are now starting not to work. He will need another back surgery. I'm sure of it. I hate seeing him in so much pain. We have a 10 am appointment to see what can be done in the short term. He's seeing a neurosurgeon on the 13th but that sure is far off when you're in pain.
I'll get back to my blocks as soon as I can. The last few days have been hard. He's such an active guy and this is not his style at all. We're going to watch the Wild Card games tonight and the next couple of days- Yankees vs Red Sox. We're life long Yankees fans!!

That’s a beautiful quilt, Terriamn! Congratulations on finishing the binding in the middle of the night. The border is really very pretty. Great work. Your question about how I was doing on the binding several days back goaded me into finishing mine. I’m glad you also finished yours. Yay, us!!!

I think my next project will be those red and white blocks from the last Boom. I’ll QAYG. I want a light backing and white batting. I hope I’ve got some in my stash.

I forgot to mention that my neighbor who has dementia used to be a LA’er. Her husband showed me her extensive stash. I’ve never personally seen so much fabric! He wants to give it to me to get rid of it. If that comes to fruition, most of it I’ll give to the Guild as there’s way too much for me. Those ladies will make short work of the stash.

SusieQ, I hope your husband finds some relief soon. Let us know how he’s doing. Maybe there’s something that can be done short of surgery? My dad had back issues that laid him up repeatedly through his life. Like your hubby, he was always active so it was hard on him. Best wishes for your hubby.

im glad you like the completed quilt pages. Lots of eye candy there.

Those two quilts Janice and Terriamn just finished binding are beautiful. I love looking at quilts I couldn’t make myself. I don’t have the patience to do the same block over and over. My quilts tend to be asymetrical one offs. I’m hopefully going boogie boarding today. The first time this year!

Thank you, mjp. You get on a roll and the piecing is swift. I enjoyed PP’ing it and I tried for a lot of variation in the fabrics. And I was able to use some of my candy squares. They’d been languishing for years but were finally put to good use in the 9 patches. I used some boom scraps as well, notably a light floral print from Joanelizbay. Made me smile to use those.

Yeah, for using 2.5s in your quilt. Share with the 2.5 group too. Encouraging to see all of the finishes that are happening as we stitch along with our boom blocks. I do get a kick out of using the scraps from boom blocks in other quilts. It sure stretches my perspective. I have what is supposed to be a leader/ender quilt in progress that uses 2.5" four patches in the center of economy blocks. I always just end up making 5 or 10 at a time when my little box of scraps gets full. Oh, I remember this one or that fabric was from such and such boom. The smiles and memories come back so quickly. Then I often go back to the gallery and rediscover who submitted that fabric. How soon we can forget.

Here is what I finished this afternoon. A UFO from scraps of another baby quilt to make a Project Linus quilt. 41-44 and even the batting was scraps. It has been languishing in my UFO basket for about two years. I pulled it out yesterday and went at it. Now it is going on the pile to be delivered to PL in a month or so.

WMUTeach, love the bear quilt! It's adorable and you used up some stash. Yay for you.

So, I need backings. Has anyone used Marshalls Dry Goods for backings? Wide (108 inches) are as low as $10 a yard but I wonder about quality. Any comments or other suggestions?
