I have a 60 degree triangle ruler (Creative Grids) with the blunt end but opt to use the 60 degree line on my 6” x 24” ruler so it will not have those blunt ends. Those points come in handy for making lining up those blocks easier when you are putting it together. I’ve made several and taught classes for kaleidoscope quilts. I always recommended not using the blunt end ruler. Just my two cents. Either way: have fun!

If the ruler has dotted lines for stitching, you can measure 1/4 inch up from where the dotted lines meet at the pointed end, and put a piece of tape there. Then, you can lay it on a regular ruler to find out how wide a strip you need to cut.

Edited to add that I actually cut and added a cardboard point to mine. But whatever works better for you is what you should do.
