    The soup was great.
And daughter is home safely. In the past the only NW route from Fresno, California to Tampa Florida arrived at 12:30 AM. Then drive home 2 hours. With jet lag, the next day is a total loss. BUT! Yeah! Their flight arrived at 5:30. After 5 hour flight restaurants were open and 2 hour drive. Dark but a respectable bed time.

I pulled filet mignon from the freezer and declared that we were having beef for dinner! We buy the whole "log" to trim and cut into 2-portion steak packages. Served with leftover Thanksgiving vegetables and homemade strawberry ice cream. Since discovering how delicious the ice cream is with the frozen whole strawberries, it has replaced chocolate as my favorite. Made with Splenda and half-n-half!

Sort of coincidence, I thought it was going to be turkey again tonight but then I saw the steaks we picked up on Black Friday. They were already marked down and need to be cooked.

I mentioned it to the husband that we could do them with the broiler or in the cast iron -- and he said "Or, you could fire up the grill and we can do them all at once". I said I was not opposed to the grill so long as I didn't have to stand in the snow. He said fine, so this picture is not of dinner but hubby getting to the grill after the snowstorm...

He got the deck cleared, and the steaks marinated. All I need to do is the fire, he will do the actual grilling even. Better get that done before it starts getting dark!

Brrrr! I have never experienced snow shoveling. All we experience is cold fronts between warmer days. Its 50 degrees today, and that is ccccold for me.

DH came home from Thanksgiving travel with a cold - and he is a stereo-typical male when ill. I was raised to suffer in silence, he was raised to be doted on, I guess.

Anyhow, he has already said he wants Lipton Noodle soup for dinner. I don't know why, but when he is under the weather, that is what he wants. With extra fine noodles added in. I keep homemade chicken vegetable soup in the freezer, but he won't eat it when ill. Maybe too many vegetables, maybe not enough salt? IDNK.

Looks a lot like Northern Maine! We grill year round, too. And yes, we usually have to shovel out the grill.

We won't see 50s until at least April! Weatherman is saying -3°f for Wednesday night.

Homemade meatballs with a homemade sauce ( ketchup, mustard and brown sugar ) plus a garden squash picked in October. I make 2 lbs of ground beef into meatballs and freeze on cookie sheets. When frozen, transfer to plastic bag in freezer. Meatballs have saved my life more than once when I need a supper so I call them “my little lifesavers”.

Today's Tuesday=trash pick-up. So last night was fish. Had leftover noodles, mild salsa, lime juice, lettuce from garden and fish. Corn tortillas.

Only real cooking was saute fish.

Tomorrow/Wednesday is Publix $5 sushi day.

    Today have leftover chicken/veg/rice soup.

So Thursday is next real cooking day. And Friday is trash pick-up. So I'll get salmon on Wednesday when I get sushi.

We did not bring home any Thanksgiving leftovers, so our fridge has been bare all week. I sent the DH grocery shopping with a list. I don't know why I bother to write it. He never gets what I ask him to. I love him for going for me though. He bought some cod, so I think I'll make fish tacos for dinner tonight.
