Hi everyone, I got my bag of goodies and want to thank you all for the gorgeous blocks! I can't wait to put them together.

Hi busy Roses! I'm back home and have opened my box so I could count the baggies. 19 + 19, all accounted for. I haven't taken any out yet but like what I see so far! When things die down a bit I will open them all and press flat. Both of my quilts will be so pretty! I love my "extras" too. The runner is just stunning! Love the patterns. Thanks for sharing with us, Janice. It made this Boom even more fun.

Janice I'm so sorry your friend/neighbor has had another fall with a break. When my dad had dementia he lived with us, and we put an extra couch in his bedroom, and moved furniture around so there would be no big open spaces in which to fall. He fell anyway, because his hip broke while he was trying to get up out of a chair. Many times when you hear that seniors "fell and broke a hip", it's actually the hip breaking and then they fall. It happened in one of my Silver Sneakers classes I was teaching. The lady was 80 and had never been given a bone density scan. She didn't know she had osteoporosis.

Now I am 69 and I have osteoporosis. I try to be careful and take calcium and D3 every day.

Terri, yay for feeling better and for driving. Tell hubby it makes us happy to buy Christmas gifts for loved ones!

Janice, our guild collects bed size quilts and tops to give out to families who lost their homes in fires and tornadoes. Lost everything. Unfortunately, that happens a lot in Mississippi. Maybe your guild does the same? Maybe for some families who lost their homes last year in that terrible flood? Bed sized quilts are needed. Check and see if your guild has long arm quilters willing to finish the big tops for charitable donations.

We are trying to decide what to do for Marty. It's so hard to give him up!

Lets keep this thread going between Booms. I love the chatter. Show what you are working on, and definitely your boom quilts when you get them together.

I have been thinking NZ should have had her baby or was soon too. How wonderful it is #8. Blessings to you and yours NZ!

Yes I got my envelope but I haven’t opened anything yet. I’m thinking we are in Thanksgiving overdrive here. But then 8-9” of snow and now 3” more tonight. And I’m not getting along very well with Old Man Winter. He creeps inside and seems to inhabit my bones, hence the saying cold to the bone, I guess.

But I’m trying to get little projects hanging over my head done so that after the new year I can lay my quilt blocks out and make a plan. A friend in the nursing home called me a couple weeks ago and said her over the shoulder sling bag I made her so she could keep track of her phone was wearing out. That’s the second one she’s wore out. I don’t think she ever takes it off! So I found some girlie pink paisley I had in my stash and she loved it. That’s one done. I have some coasters and a couple of dolls to make. I somehow managed to lose the lid to my bobbin box. How far can it go? It took an hour or two for three days before I got clean enough to discover it had slipped under a pencil/pen/scissors holder that has legs that I didn’t know about. I had already gone to the machine store but they didn’t have any. But he had ordered some and would be a couple of weeks. Well the next day was my third day searching and I was determined to find it. I was beginning to think it had gotten folded into some fabric, which I didn’t even want to imagine going through all I’d had out. But it’s found and I’ve made a mental note to not lose it again.

I honestly don’t know what I would do with the DWR, Janice. That a commitment for sure. Maybe there is some way to list it on the trading page of Quilting board.

It sounds like you are doing better Teri which is an answer to prayer!

And Sewbizgirl it is a difficult decision to make. My son’s therapy dog when he got back from Iraq just seems to have hit the brakes and is moving slowly or not at all. No symptoms, she’s eating and especially when her plate has little sprinkles of thanksgiving all over it. I cooked the innards and peeled the meat off the neck so she had quite a bit of sprinkles for a week. And she knows the word sprinkles. That is how we got her to eat after our corgi died 4 years ago.

Janice, I hope you tickle cough wears off soon. And to all the wonderful sweet Rose quilters, I hope for a quiet blessed Christmas. It has been a joy to join you.

Lots of news here. Glad you all are enjoying your blocks and the extras.

Not much happening with me except that I started FMQ’ing my Boom 33 blocks again and immediately ran out of thread. Should have checked the darn bobbin but I got anxious to get started. So far one is done. One out of 20. Oh, my. I’ve got a way to go.

We’re supposed to get flurries or snow tonight but it will change to rain and be gone by morning.

Terriamn, good for you driving again. Short drives will increase your confidence. Yay, you.

SBG, I wouldn’t be surprised to learn our friend broke her hip and then fell. She is so frail. And with the dementia she cannot remember not to do things like walk on her own or get out of bed without help. She’s in rehab again and getting good care says her hubby.

I’ll change out the bobbin and get set for so quilting tomorrow. Have a good evening.

Edited to add: I just checked and used the wrong color top thread on my block. I meant to use a medium grey but picked up the white. Half and half. Good grief. Guess I’ll be pulling the white out tonight.

We are having a cold spell here ( 50’s) and boy do I appreciate it. Now when I have a hot flash from my meds and the oven is on for baking, standing outside feel wonderful

I have quilting for the Missions today, no idea what they will have me doing today. Just fill in where ever they need me and the time flies. Very enjoyable

Janice hoping your throat tickle and cough are just about gone.

Sewbiz sending you hugs as you struggle through the Marty decisions

Just spent 90 minutes I’ll never get back unpicking a the wrong color thread from my Boom 33 block. Well, lesson learned to closely check the thread color before beginning to quilt! lol. I’m going to restart tomorrow.

Hope you’re all having a good week so far.

Janice that doesn’t sound like fun at all!

I have been busy cutting 2.5” candies from several jelly rolls. This first group is all florals and so pretty. Would have loved yardage of many of the strips.

We went to listen to a new band yesterday afternoon. The nicest thing I can say about them, it was a painful experience. We left very disappointed but we will continue looking.

Back to my baking, didn’t have time yesterday. The house smells so good.

I am working on prepping for my Christmas Tea Table at church on Friday night. My theme is "A Cranberry Christmas". So I made a Spiced Christmas Jam for everyone to take home. I will be serving a Apple Cranberry pie from an 1800's cookbook and cranberry shortbread cookies with a dollop of cranberry jam. (Think thumbprint cookies only square and folded on the diagonal, corner to corner. For a savory moment I am making a cheese log that is rolled in chopped cranberries and pecan. Off course I always serve Dove Chocolate. Tee-Hee-Hee. This event is always fun to plan execute then sit down and enjoy with friends

No stitching or quilting until .....Saturday. Tomorrow baking, Friday will be decorating. Saturday will be working on finishing a quilt for my granddaughter.... a UFO from about 11/12 years ago.

I am anxious to open my packages but I just cannot be tempted to sew them together until my Christmas Tea event is over.

Hello to all. Hope you are warm. When you walk outside here Teri, it’s 17* right now. Tomorrow supposed to be 8* for those riding the school bus. Chilly to the point even the dog is waiting for her coat before she goes out.

I just wanted to share a cool link I saw this morning. A Christmas quilt with 12” blocks. So cute. But you could use them for pillows, too.

Have a happy happy Christmas to all

Hi GramE....Did I miss the link? I got excited when I saw that you mentioned using the block and make pillows. I love me some pillows.

Stay warm!
