petthefabric, the quilt is a square; not sure if we're supposed to post the measurement, but you can find it in the introduction post. It should be easy to turn it into a twin size. I agree with you, a big part of the enjoyment of the mystery is the group interaction.

I think it is ok to post the size, it is given to us the same as the name of the project. It is a little hard to find. It is just above the picture of the paint chips in the Intro post. Bonnie sez:
Our Lupine & Laughter quilt finishes at 80'' X 80'. (sic, we can assume 80")
I am going king sized so I am making extra units each step. Trying to balance the line of doing too much, I'm ok with being a little short but would rather have some extras at each step -- without ending up with a huge number of leftovers.
edit/ps: a lot of my enjoyment from this project/thread comes from the rest of you!!

Well I have finally decided on most of my fabrics. I switched out my neutral color 3x’s. So 3x’s the charm. But I have definitely made a decision. I choice 3 pieces of white on tan. The other three colors I kept as close to the color chips in each color. I too plan on making an altered king size top (~90”L by 120”W). I have at least 1/2 yard extra of each fabric pieces. Most of my fabrics are f8s or fg’s. My goal today wash 2 loads of laundry with my colors and then iron all of my fabric. I also want to cut out clue 1 (I need to do some math to calculate the number of strips I need to cut in each color selection). Then it’s happy sewing and trimming time.
I tried to post pics, but I need to take the pic then post. I guess I have too many pics in storage for the pic process to work. So pics will be later. Anyway enjoy lurking, sewing almost starting like me. Have a fabulous weekend.

Cut WOF for step 1. Cut and sewed 1/2 of the square (pinks and background). Today I hope to cut and sew the other 1/2 of the square (pinks and blues). Then tomorrow, hopefully-that's the plan, sew the 2 halves into squares. Making progress.
May need to use i-pad to post pics. It's dying so it's unreliable.

Checking in on all of you. Nice to see the pretty colors and progress reports. I am having a good time in Phoenix (70 and sunny) as opposed to Peoria (10 and snowy), but I am looking forward to coming home on Thursday.

I always turn these square quilts into rectangles. It's pretty close to the same number of squares. I'm a visual person, so when the final reveal is shown, I print off a copy. I then use my scissors and cut off a column of blocks with the border and tape it to the bottom. It's a great way to visually see if I need to make more of anything. It usually just means that I have a block extra.
