I have talked to a few people that worked at thrift shops -
These are not meant to be places to take your trash to.
I'm not sure which category the jeans with tears and holes are placed in.

I only give useable stuff to Goodwill or the veterans groups that pick up from the house. Mostly it's stuff that I can wear anymore because it's too small. I'm not sure what category the jeans with tears and holes fall into. lol

Lots of people wear jeans with tears. If they are for sale in thrift shops the managers must think they will sell. I know they can be purchased brand new with tears in them. I volunteer in an elementary school and I notice a couple of the younger staff wear jeans with the knees ripped out.

We have several clothes donation mini sheds set up around town in convenient locations. I put all my unwanted clothing in one of them. Ever wonder what the thrift shops do with excess unsold clothing? Most all go to the dump. The bigger stores will sell by box full to rag dealers.

I've read several times one of the biggest expenses is hauling trash away.
I love our local Free facebook list. have gotten some wonderful things and given away a ton. Plus I get to meet locals. One woman came for an air fryer and I talked her into joining our little quilt group.
No succes on my post seeking old chenille spreads though

I put any fiber items in the donation boxes, I figure they must have a way to recycle unusable fiber items. I am much more selective in what I donate to local thrift stores.
Don't get me started on what people donate to food shelves.
