Welcome back Wesing! Did you use up all the candies you had previously collected? What is your favorite part of candy collection?

Happy New Year everyone! I am still recovering from overeating at all the Christmas feasts. Time to start exercising, I fear. My candies are ready for January mailing. I have taken your encouragement on prepping ahead of time to heart, WMUTeach.
    Hi IBEX94 -

It’s good to be back. Life has been crazy for a few years and I’m ready for it to get boring again!

I haven’t used my candies yet, but I have them all separated by color and stored, and I do have a plan. I think my favorite part of the swap is all the mailing and getting mail. I love getting something besides bills in the mail, and I like the thought of everybody else getting something fun too. And the variety of fabric squares doesn’t hurt 😉

Hello! I took one set of houseguests to the train station mid-morning, then dropped my sewing machine off for service, came home and emptied the dishwasher (for the umpteenth time!), put away the Christmas quilts and table runners and took down the Christmas tree. The Christmas dishes are still out because we use those until Epiphany and then they get put away.
My remaining houseguest goes to the airport tomorrow morning at o'dark thirty, then I'll go to church, and then when I get home I'm going to put my sewing room back together. It had to be emptied out (a herculean task, believe me), in order to pull down the Murphy bed. I'll have a mountain of bed linens and towels to do tomorrow.
On my way to the sewing machine shop I stopped at the dollar store to buy some envelopes. The stamps that I ordered online arrived today. I'm planning to start counting out candies after work on Monday and Tuesday evenings and getting them ready for mailing.
I hope everyone had a lovely Christmas and is looking forward to the new year. Anyone making new year's resolutions?

Wow JulieG,you've had a massively busy few days but calm will return or perhaps has returned already. No resolutions for me. I just keep slogging on with healthier eating, walking more and whittling down my BMI and my list off UFOs.

I still have two more Christmas events but both are unscheduled as of today. One will involve traveling for me, but to see my grands before they return to college,,,,,I am willing to travel. The other event might not happen until mid January. Weird but it is all all about being together. In the meantime, I will will keep on... keeping on. Sometimes boring and the mundane feels real good for a little while anyway.

New Year's resolutions -- I don't make as such (except, ditto WMUTeach, try to improve healthy habits). But I am resolving to be nicer to my family and coworkers starting today. Actually, yesterday. I started with my family. Kindness never hurt anybody and my default is to be snarky Candies are ready to go! I'm curious who the other January birthday contestant will be.

Happy pre NYE/D everyone. welcome new and continuing members.

I’m getting ready over the next few days to iron then cut my fabrics & cut the fabrics into candy size.

My sewing/quilting goals: work on UFO’S, revisit FPPing techniques and actually make a few project, make a few scrappy tops I want to do from facebook this year. Complete BHMQ and a few other projects I started this year. I figure I will be busy for a while at least.

    Happy New Year’s everyone.

    Hey Swappers!

I sent a PM to WMUT but thought I’d just come to the source and ask. I noticed in my last swap I got 0 solids. I have an extensive collection of solids and wondered what you’d think about getting 50 solid colored candies. I don’t have an opinion either way, and if you say you’d rather not you will NOT hurt my feelings. If you’d rather not answer publicly send me a PM and I will take your answer into consideration without publicity. This is a learning experience for me.

    Thanks,
    Darren

I just sent a PM to you in response to your PM to me. You can lean on the voice of the crowd if you want to wait or just cut up those solids. We all use them!

Hello to returning friends and to the Newbies for our Candy Swap 2026! We have some really sweet quilters in this group! I appreciate all the personal messages I received these past couple of months.

Here we are at the close of 2025 and looking forward to what 2026 has in store for us! We have had a quiet Christmas Season this year. We had planned to visit family in Ohio for Christmas, but due to unforeseen circumstances, we had to cancel the trip. We will make up for it and visit for Easter instead.

My "Candies" and Birthday Cards are ready to mail! All I need to do is add an address and take it to the Post Office.

I found that my Stripology ruler works wonderfully in cutting my 2 1/2" squares with two rotary blade cuts!

Looking forward to a fun third year with the "Candy Swap" group!

    Hugs,
    Brenda

My resolution this year is to get “back on the wagon” when it comes to my health. I’m afraid that when retirement hit I relaxed into it just a little too much!

Lots of challenges ahead for my family, but I’m going to try to roll with the punches while also taking care of myself. I still have UFOs to finish and projects I’m itching to start in my quilting world.

Oh, and I don’t mind getting solids at all with my birthday candy. It’s all just as sweet!
