Wow - what a great collection of 2.5" ideas to get the creative juices going! Thanks for sharing.
I just wanted to speak to Pamelor's 16Ps... gift bags can be a good way to use up some of those mismatched, "don't quite play along" blocks. I made these from some random/orphan blocks (I'm pretty sure the squares are all 2.5") and leftovers I had and we have used them every Christmas since. They are not quilted, just lined.
While they're not polished enough for gifting as gifts, they're sufficient for wrapping them!

Thank you everyone for all of the marvelouss ideas and memories.
JENNR8R, I have a card from a previous birthday swap with a close up from your quilt. I kept it in my "ideas for the future" collection. Thanks for re-posting.to reminder those who have been here for a while and to let the newer swappers gather some good ideas from you. (Next comes the little dresden plates?
)
Pinkflowers, I really like your triangles with the 2.5's. These could be so versatile with another solid color from one's collection. Loving it. I may have to use it for a baby quilt since I have an abundance of little one arriving in my circle of friends. The Lori Dickman pattern is a keeper too. Ideas, ideas, ideas.
Pamelor, there are so many ways to use your 16-patches: sash them with a consistent color, put them on point, turn them into Valentine hearts or of a different color way, turn them into Arkansas Crossroads blocks or the gift bags and on and on and on. Yeah for using those little darlings.
Julie G. what a clever way to use scraps and odds and ends with the triangles surrounded with the multi-colored candy squares! Great idea for all of us! And your Hunter's Star quilt is impressive too. Sure does look BIG.
Gemm my SIL started making bags from her Christmas fabric about 25 years ago. She passed away from ALS but we are still using her bags and I have added to the collection. Now after all these years of use, they are cheaper than Dollar Store bags on sale after Christmas. Using Orphan blocks is a terrific idea.
Thank you everyone for sharing and posting photos of your progress. I did pick up a back for my snowball corner baby quilt and might, fingers crossed, get it finished this week.
Janice and others in the path of this storm, stay inside, keep warm and enjoy the mandatory sewing time! I ventured out to church yesterday and fabric shopping today because tomorrow may be BIG lake effect snow for the mitten tomorrow. We shall see!
Looking forward to February 25 and our next round of 2.5 Day.

Here is the tutorial on making the Dresden Plates from SheriR that I used on my Valentine Candy quilt: Candy Dresden Wall Hanging/Mug Rug
I've used these little Dresden Plates many times over the years. SheriR shared this in our Candy Swap in 2018.

JENNR8R, I remember making coasters from the little Dresdens. They were easy and a lot of fun. Hard to believe it was so long ago! Thank you for the memory.
