2026 Birthday Swap Sign-Up

I have one more thing to share this month. This was a UFO (which I almost never have) from last year that I just finished. My sit-down machine has been broken for ten months, and it is finally fixed... I think... At any rate I was able to quilt it today. I made this doll quilt by making nine-patch blocks out of candy squares. I cut them up and rearranged them into Disappearing Nine-Patch Blocks. This makes these easy blocks look very complicated. Below is a picture from Leah Day on how to cut them up and rearrange them. I'm going to put this doll quilt in the State Fair of Virginia next Fall.

LC, Thanks or the update and Janice thanks for the dresden coasters reminder and photo. Those would be a good little carry about project for travel that uses our hand stitching sills and some of our candy stash. I was thinking about backing with wool felt and using up some of my wool stash.
Looks like weather is taking a deep breath. before the next round. I had a grand daughter over yesterday to make bread, potato soup and two kind of fruit bread. Time to pass on my kitchen skills to another generation by filling a "snow day" with the sweet smell of homemade bread. Ahhhh! OK, while the bread was rising we watched K-Pop Demon Hunters. Not what I expected. I teased about older generation teaching old sills and the current generation exposing the older to what is new. I got a smile on that one.

Good morning. Yay for bread aromas in the kitchen!
Just a quick fyi that we haven’t received mail since Friday I believe due to the weather. I’m not sure if the road is clear enough for our carrier to make it here in that flimsy little truck of hers. I know some candy packages are sitting at the post office waiting as I see pics of them on informed delivery. As soon as I get them, I’ll post names here. Thanks!
Stay warm and safe!

Good frigid morning from WNC!
Yesterday, one package arrived but all the backlogged mail hasn’t come yet. Odd.
My thanks to Gaijin! I won’t be opening anything until closer to my birthday.
Received from:
JENNR8R 1/24
Gaijin 1/28

Looks like all but five February envelopes are on their way to the birthday celebration!. Hooray and Whoopie!
Michigan is at the start of a "tropical heat wave". Today we are supposed to see 15 degrees and by Monday we might hit the mid-twenties. Like everything else, you just get used to wearing warmer clothing and making fewer trips out for just one item.
Bottom line, stay warm, enjoy what ever respite comes your way. In four months it will be swim suit weather and time to traipse down to the beach and walk the trails looking for signs of summer. For now I will enjoy my two feet of snow.
The attached photo just makes me chuckle. Hopefully you too.
