    Default Batting question

Would you be concerned about using Quilters Dream Cotton batting if it had been kept for many years (some of it is probably over 15 years old) in the original plastic bag in a a/c controlled environment. I am just wondering if it is safe to keep it that long in a plastic bag. Thank you for your input.
    Happy Quilting!

I would use it but would give it a sniff test first and open it up, roll it out and give it a good visual look over. I was given some old batting that come to find out had been used by a family of mice. Needless to say that roll of batting was tossed out. Yours sounds good, thought.

Have you considered contacting the manufacturer? Will be looking for other's responses.

I would also open it up and roll out and inspect.

    Thank you WMUTeach and Stitchnripper.
So both of you would be comfortable if it smelled fine and looked fine, correct?
You would not be worried about how they said plastics can cause cancer?

Personally I would not. There are microplastics all over the place. And I think we are inhaling and ingesting them every day. A quilt batting would be low on my list of worry.

give it a once over and if it looks fine use it!

I'm working on a roll of 50/50 batting I bought 9 years ago, no issues with it!

I always run my batting thru the dryer on the steam refresh cycle. I'd do that and just see how it looks and feels. I've bought batting at estate sales and done that with it and it's been fine.
