SBG, wish we were in the 60s but I’ll take high 40s over sleet and snow.

The sleep at home retreat is very inexpensive since we have no hotels. We can opt out of bringing our lunch and go out to a local restaurant. During the last retreat we had food trucks but this time they’re not going to set that up. A lot of people brought their own food. There is a little Greek place nearby that I want to try. I’d also like to go on a “real“ retreat, and get the full treatment of meals, etc. I don’t know what project I want to bring but better decide soon. I like to prep the fabrics beforehand, and just sew there.

The sleep-at-home retreat sounds fun too, Janice. As long as you don't live too far away.... I'll definitely be bringing mindless sewing to my retreat. Just squares to sew together, mostly. I have been thinking about stuff to bring. I think I will need my little saddle stool, because it adjusts up and down. When I go places to sew, regular chairs are always too low for me, and I feel like my machine is at eye level! We may have rainy weather next weekend, so I will bring enough to do inside.

Today was a perfect day, weather-wise. I wish every day could be so pleasant.

WNC is being treated to the highest winds I’ve seen in the 4 plus years I’ve lived here. With lots of tall trees around our house, it’s unsettling to say the least. The grands are coming in a few hours for the day and a sleepover. We won’t be able to play safely outside so we’ll be trying to think up inside fun.

I live about 8 miles from the retreat center and it’s an easy ride. I’m looking forward to it.

There goes the power flicking again from the winds. It’s brutal outside.

Enjoy your day.

Janice are your power lines above ground? At our Minnesota home everything is buried underground and we have never lost power there. When we lived in the city our power lines were above ground and from time to time power would flicker and several times we lost power, once was for a week. We had a huge oak tree in our backyard only a few feet away from the house. Always worried about it falling on the house during major windstorm's.

Enjoy your time with the grands.

I never made a rag quilt! I tried something new and I like it. I folded over 1/4" and sewed down each block on white muslin. Than sandwiched with peach flannel and than teal backing.
Used MJP block for bag. Thank you one and all.

Good evening. We survived the winds with minimal small limb loss. Tomorrow we should hit the 60s. Yay.

TG, love the rag quilt. Never thought to do that with our blocks. Great idea and very pretty. Are you keeping this one or will somebody else be the lucky recipient?

Busy plugging away on Oopsie Daisy L&E, on and off. I thought I had enough blocks but I’m going to enlarge it. Back to cutting. Oopsie! lol.

TG I have never made a rag quilt either, yours is lovely and what a great idea.

Janice great way to use up scraps

Weather is back to normal here, low 80’s and thankfully these old bones are enjoying the heat

Love the rag quilt, TG! I never would have thought to try that with Boom blocks. Looks cozy and lovely.

Janice, glad the wind didn't hurt things there too much. Your Oopsie Daisy is looking good. I'm guessing you will be using a sashing in between blocks... I'm keeping that one in mind for a future scrap strip quilt.

I've been trying to get stuff rounded up for the 3 day retreat. It's so much stuff! Ack! Can't wait to go, tho. I leave on Thursday.

It's 73 degrees here today... yahoo!

Never made a Rag Quilt either, but it sure turned out well. The Oopsie Daisy looks so nice and precise, Janice. Who would have though it was scraps and not planned?

Spent some time yesterday gathering quilts for donation later this week. I am on my never ending plan to disperse my stuff so in the future others won't have to do that on my behalf. I had to make sure each quilt had a photo shoot moment and documented size and where it was going. Ten are ready to go "out the door" mostly to Project Linus a couple may go to a hospice center.

Keep packing for your sleep at home retreat, SBG. At least if you don't plan enough, you can grab something extra when you return home for the night. Have a grand time!

A lovely day that feels like summer after our weeks of true winter. It is currently 40 degrees (wowzers) and no wind. The squirrels have emerged and are running the trees likely looking for mates and tasty treats that they left buried under the snow pack.
