    Default Skyline Chili

Only yesterday, while visiting with a friend, did I hear of "Skyline Chili". Thought it sounded interesting and have researched the recipe online. I have found a "copycat" recipe that is supposed to be very close, but I have no idea what the original really tastes like. Are there an Cincinnatians who can steer me in the right directions? Please no substitutions. I'm a Missourian. Thank you.

It's the rage in Ohio! Since I'm not from here I've never acquired a taste for it. People eat in on spaghetti. YIKES !

Yes in my research I saw it served on spaghetti. I rather liked that idea.

Oh my gosh, yes. Cincinnatians are crazy about it. We have a pint of Graeter's Skyline ice cream in the freezer right now. It's OK but I really don't like oyster cracker bits in my ice cream. Actually, the ice cream just tastes like cinnamon ice cream with cracker bits. Braxton Brewery also put out a Skyline Ale either last fall or the year before. I'm not a beer drinker so I can't vouch for that, but my son liked it. Haven't seen your recipe but just know you've got to have cinnamon and chocolate and a bunch of other spices for it to be authentic.

When we visited there we ate it and I really did like it. I loved that it was on spaghetti. I love a noodle. I am now inspired to find a recipe. Some grocery stores have it in the freezer section.

Is it a frozen meal that you can buy in the grocery store?

I have seen it here in metro Atlanta in either a Kroger or Publix or both. I guess look where the frozen meals are. It isn't with the lean cuisine type

One of our local hospitals has the best chili and they actually share the recipe with anyone who wants it, so I’ll not change.

someone asked for the hospital chili recipe so here it is.
McKennan Hospital name was changed to Avera Health maybe 25 years ago but the name McKennan is fondly remembered.

    McKENNAN CHILI
1.5 pounds lean ground beef, browned with 1 or 2 diced white onions
    14 oz can diced tomatoes
    28 oz can crushed tomatoes
2 cans kidney beans and juice. (I prefer light red over dark red)
    14 oz bottle chili sauce
    2 T. chili powder
    2 T. garlic powder
    Simmer at least an hour.
