I usually listen to "B" movies. Don't have to place close attention to story plot.

When I'm piecing, I usually watch reruns of older TV shows or other things that I don't have to pay close attention to. When I'm doing FMQ on a quilt, I like to have music on.

Silence in my sewing room, I don't even listen to the radio in my vehicle, but each to his own.

I usually have the TV tuned in to something like 20/20 that I can listen to but don't have to watch. And part of the time I'm not even listening. I tried audio books, but found that I really needed to pay attention to those, or I lose the plot.

These past two weeks I have had the Olympics playing in the background! The action usually happens in short bursts, so I can pause to watch something cool happen, then get back to sewing for a few minutes while everything resets.

Usually, I listen to the classical music station (non-commercial) as it reliably plays music, not ads, all day. It's generally pretty good for piecing or quilting. I will also put on a playlist of ambient music when quilting when I need something in the background but don't want anything terribly distracting. Hearts of Space (Slow Music for Fast Times) has a lot of good music for this.

I mostly have on music. In addition to airplay, I have a large and extensive collection of probably about 600 vinyl albums and a similar amount of CDs, all are stored Alpha by artist and then release date within the artist. I have a 400 CD jukebox player and am going through it alphabetically. First off, just by nature of the technology pretty much everything in there is at least 10 years old and I have forgotten owning some or having others in other formats, so expect to hear things that I don't as well as hearing things I don't expect. Plus the shifts of genres between artists can be huge! Shortly before the Super Bowl it was like a like a mini half time, I had the Gipsy Kings (so all Spanish), Green Day, and Brandi Carlile in the Highwomen -- I'm almost out of I now but I haven't been sewing so much.

Sometime I do listen to audio books, but I have to be at certain points in the projects to where the sewing is pretty much automatic and doesn't require a lot of thought or really captivated by a story that I want more.

There are also times when I just want to hear human voices in the background and I will also put on TV/movies. Usually I want good stories that I already know/don't have to watch, like from my personal collection the Back to the Future movie series. For TV I want people talking nicely (no screaming or fighting) and doing what I find interesting things, so home improvement shows or real estate shows or cooking shows are likely.

For me, it depends which of my sewing rooms I'm in, When I had to move out of the three season porch because of the cold and move back into my cross stitch TV room, I watch TV while sewing. There is no TV hook up out on the sun porch, so there I listen to the radio and CD's. I'm very anxious for spring so I can move back into the 3 season room as there is almost 3 times the space there. Actually I really need a whole new giant room to myself.

I like to listen to TV. I am currently on season 12 of ER. I pick shows with lots of seasons, which means it was probably good. Also, very verbal. I don't want to watch, just listen. I recently finished the Medium and the Scandal series. I already know that I am not an auditory learner (teacher speak), and that I need to read or write down the instructions, but I tried an audio book and found it difficult to follow.
