I think all the pieces are made. Just need to sew the last border on. Getting there slowly.

This week is taxes. That should mostly end the finances of married life. Then that area will be much simpler. Seems odd. That has been actually a weight, hanging. One step at a time.

I am back from my trip and back to work on finishing this year's mystery.

As a general note, the clues have been taken down and you can buy the non-mystery pattern if you wish.

Took a bit of time for me to get back into the project. Had to figure out what I was doing with the border strips, two were perfect and two needed parts attached. Lucky for me I got the right bits together after only brief confusion. I got the top and bottom inner borders on and measured, The side borders will be attached to the border first and then put on the quilt. I am hoping to finish tomorrow at my sewing group.

I almost got waylaid by those corner blocks and my reverse colors. My natural preference was to put the dark colors on the outside -- which should have been Bonnie's purple/my grey. But reversing the white neutral into black meant it looked more natural to me with the black on the outside and the grey. I have to change colors on the corner blocks but it is an easy fix and I caught it before it was too late.

Whatever issues and 2nd guesses aren't going to be changed at this point. Mathematically the borders went on pretty super easy. They don't really match the grid of the rest of the quilt but then those lines don't really match up either so am not going to stress. I mentioned before that because of scant seams my top was a couple of inches larger than design, but that was ok because my geese were also scant and together it worked out about perfectly.

Here's pictures of a bottom corner and the top. By design and my substitutions, the black triangles on the outer edge should have been the inside edge, but I liked it better with the dark on the outside. I had to adjust my corner squares to make them be black on the outer edges (instead of design purple/my grey). The grey I used in them is a bit dark compared to the others, it was a piece I found later in the process and is not in the center of the quilt. The black and white fabrics are also not in the rest of the project.

At last, Lupine & Laughter is quilted, bound, and ready to be gifted. A friend of mine is getting married later this year, and I think this will be the perfect quilt for them.

I did a simple meander all over with light pink thread top and white thread beneath. I found a fantastic print with pink flowers and cranes for the back. I do not want to quilt anything bigger than this on my home machine—it was a challenge!

I’m so glad I took on this mystery! I learned several new skills and my confidence is sky-high! I’ve enjoyed seeing everyone’s interpretations and creative variations, too. Maybe next time I’ll be brave enough to change colorways as well!

I have been away from this thread for a while and oh, my goodness what progress and some finishes too. I am not sure whether seeing and reading about your work is encouragement or if it is just astounding that you all are getting to the finish line. Congratulations finishers and "press on" to those still on the journey.

Congratulations, Iceblossom and Quossum! Your quilts are beautiful. Quossum, I especially like the your shades of blue, they give such a tranquil feel to the quilt. You did it!

I haven't been doing much in the sewing room last couple of weeks -- today "should" be the day I finish cleaning up my black, white and gray fabric/BH project.

I am coming to the end of clue 1 as leader/ender as I work on a quilt that consists of 'goose in the pond' blocks. I haven't been able to figure out why the block has this name, but I think it's very cute -- both the block and the name.

Love the finishes and pictures posted; Hooray!! I peek in now and then on this thread for finishes and updates-nice to see and I appreciate the motivation. I was excited weeks ago to finish sewing all my blocks together, and started to add the FG border. Ugh, it didn't quite fit, by over an inch. What-why?? I couldn't figure out why the border wasn't fitting. I've never had something be THIS much off. Then it dawned on me that I made my quilt rectangular shaped with different finished dimensions from Bonnie's original. Don't know how I overlooked THAT - I guess I was pushing ahead just to get it done - and that's never a good strategy! I tried adding a section of fabric on the ends of the FG border, but that only ended in Mr. Jack and I having a date night with choice words...So we had a time-out, L & L and me.
Meanwhile, my son came to visit and we met his new lady friend (apparently engaged, but not officially). I showed it to her and she really loved it, especially the frosty green that I used for sashing instead of the ice blue. So the quilt will be hers when I get it finished - I'm very pleased. I decided to ditch the FG altogether and just add a 4.5 inch wide border, including Bonnie's corner units. That's all sewed on now, I've picked out a pretty floral for the backing, and just waiting for the batting to come in. Hoping to get it sandwiched and quilted this weekend.
