At a very inspirational quilt show, I claim total exemption. Ha Ha

I'm grieving, I need retail therapy.

Climbing back up onto that wagon.

I just did my fabric in/fabric out calculations or February and I am 20.65 yards out this month ( fabric for cancer pillow, on baby quilt and donation to my niece of a jelly roll and backing for a quilt. That makes just short of 23 yards out of my sewing room in 2026! Time to move start the March pages in my notebook!

WMU, what a great fabric out count for a short month! Also lovely to think you've got a new quilter in the family. Lucky her to have you as a model, as well. :-)

Lena, a finished quilt is a finished quilt and I'm sure the recipient will appreciate the warmth it gives. Fabric's not quite so warm and comfy when it's in a shopping bag or a tote... :-)

Sync, keep going on that Indigo Way quilt! You're so close! :-)

Pet, both of those are perfect reasons to give your sitter a break from the sometimes too hard Fabric Moratorium wagon seats. Maybe stitch up a cushion now that you've got some new acquisitions to play with? :-)

I've not used up anything since my last post but neither have I brought any more fabric in. Sometimes stasis can be a success story. (I know, I'm stretching it a bit!)

Well today I am sending out a box of crumbs and an envelope of selvages -- and my sewing desk is cleared off.

I've been frightening myself by looking at what I have in a different way. Instead of counting totes, I'm figuring out the average weight of each and how much yardage that represents. While I have dramatically less fabric than I did before, I am still feeling like I have fabric way beyond reasonable life (or at least vision) expectancy. I still maintain we each get to have the amount we want, but I have more than I want and not all of it makes me happy.

I've been sort of between projects but I think I need to pull out the tote of civil war fabrics and just start cutting and stitching. I need to get better at my newish machine's seam allowance, this last Bonnie Hunter project was way too scant.

I am laughing all the way to my sewing room today. I popped in to one of the volunteer organizations I meet with regularly and what do I find.... a plastic shoe box full and over flowing with beautiful fabric cuts 1/4 to 1/2 yard lengths with my name pinned on the top piece. Yikes, did they not see how much fabric I have been bringing it to use? Good friends and generous folks but they are defeating my push to clean out all of the miscellaneous fabric from my world. It would have been rude to leave it behind, so in my car it went. Time to make some scrappy quilts of some sort. Lord, give me a vision of what to do with this "blessing".

Where is the year going? Can’t believe it is halfway through March and it’s not finished a single solitary project. I’ve been working on what should be a super simple quick quilt for my Dad but my father-in-law was in a serious accident in November that really disrupted our lives, and then I had to pack away my sewing room so he could temporarily stay with us, then my DH’s grandmother died. Other life events happened with my grown children and I’ve just been in a funk and not sewing much. I want to get back on the quilting horse but somehow haven’t. The next two weeks are super busy, too, and it looks like I won’t get much done until April.

On the bright side, I only brought in one fat quarter of Star Wars fabric, which I plan to use when I make my nephews quilts. And it was fabric my son found in a storage shed while helping a friend clean it out and was literally going to be thrown away, so I don’t feel bad about it.

Butterflyblue, it sounds like you've had a ton on your plate! It's totally okay to step back sometimes and just enjoy the scenery from the wagon. :-) I've also been struggling with getting stuff done in the sewing room but when I step back and look at the bigger picture, I can better understand that I am still being productive in other areas and although I'm not necessarily meeting my expectations in quilting, the sewing machine and fabric will be there when I'm willing and able.

I must say I was glad to hear of the rescue of that Star Wars fabric - the Force is with you!

Today was my monthly trip to Shipshewana and Lolly's Fabrics. They were having sidewalk sales too. But..... I took 22 yards in for the give away table at the meeting and came home with only 2.5 yards that did not find new homes, not bad. I shopped for a baby quilt fabric and walked out with 1.5 yards of fabric. Three cheers. I did not buy any of the coordinating fabric but will use solids from my stash to compliment the little print fabric.

My sewing assistant was confirming my color choices.

That's a real accomplishment to leave a sale with only 1.5 yards! Well done!

I feel like I've been spinning my wheels. I brought home a large plastic tub of flannels from guild that no one wanted. Enough HST's already sewn to make 3 tops. Two are done now. So the same fabric in as going out but nothing from the stash I already owned. Sigh - still a 2 quilts for donation isn't a bad weeks work. But I think I need a break from flannel and my machine definitely needs a spa day now. Come to think of it - I could use one too :-)

Lena, interesting that you mentioned using so much flannel. One of the gals at the quilt meeting yesterday showed 6 quilts that she had done, all flannel. All were made using the rag edges method and most started out as 10 inch squares but some were HSTs. She laughed a large raucous laugh and said there is enough flannel for at least 6 more throw sized quilts. She was quite the collector of flannel and donates them all to a children's charity. Keep after those flannels, Lena. Reduce our stash.
