DH dropped the envelope in mail.
I was able to get my hair washed and trimmed today! What a wonderful day. I made appointments for next 8 weeks for shampooing since I can’t take brace off and use arm.
I am using my time to call people I haven’t spoken to in ages. Love it

April candies in the mail today. I used the ticker tape system and they announced my package would arrive by March 28 since I didn't pay priority postage. Let's see what happens on the birthday girl end of things by March 28. Yay for birthdays!

Good morning swappers! Winter has returned for just one day this week. In a couple of days it will be spring again. But on to another topic. If you have been wondering what a "Boom Swap" is or if you have just been waiting to join, it is time to check it out and sign up if it fits you and your schedule. All the details can be found on the first post at Boom-35-sign-ups-open-thru-april-3-2026
This chatty and encouraging group of quilters lead by our own Janice Mc C provides an opportunity to try out some new blocks of your choice. It's a short term commitment that will yield enough finished blocks for one larger quilt or two smaller quilts, your choice. I tried it a few swaps ago and well, I just keep coming back. Fun, fun, fun! Hope to see some of you there!

Good morning, everyone! I just returned from four days at my guild's annual spring retreat and I slept like a log last night. It's unbelievable how tired one can get from sewing all day, socializing, and getting oneself to the dining hall on time for meals. Ha ha! Before the retreat I had two weeks of work that were overwhelming - long hours and short on patience. That wears me out. Luckily that only happens when I'm working on events that have two or three thousand attendees so roughly once a quarter.
I got a lot done at retreat - I pieced four rows of my enormous scrappy Kaffe hunter star top, pieced two tops made with 9-patch candies (picture on Wednesday for 2.5 day!), pieced another top of simple 9-inch blocks, bound a charity quilt, pieced two backs and made 20 blocks for a Quilts of Valor top. My guild's community service committee always takes a simple block with all the components cut out to retreat for people to (optionally) work on if they need a quick break. There were 45 people at retreat and I think we got enough blocks to make two quilt tops.
One of the things I love about retreats and sew days is seeing all the new-to-me gadgets, tools and tricks that others are using. I saw a cool small Cutterpillar rechargeable cordless light that you stick to your machine so you can see what you're sewing, a silicone mat called "Binding Eaze" which an iron sits on while you pull your binding through slots on each side to fold and press the strip, and a seam ripper that is basically a flat scalpel that was flying through errant stitches and not poking holes in the fabric. I'm definitely telling my daughter one of those nifty rechargeable lights would be a great birthday gift for me in June.
Speaking of birthdays, I'll be dropping the April candies packet in the mail today. Looking forward to seeing the posts on 2.5 day. I always get inspired by your creations.
