Default Advice restoring 1946 Singer

I picked up this old Singer 29K at an estate sale this weekend. I know it's not for quilting, but I would love to get it cleaned up and using it for leather projects (and honestly it looks fun!) For starters, lots of rusty cast iron and a lot of greasy gunk.

I'm just starting to scout out resources for how to clean the cast iron and restore this pretty thing so it's not just an art piece and am looking to see if anyone has found resources that have worked for them. So far i'm finding a lot of contradictory sources that it's hard to tell what's legitimate and what's not.

I'm sorry,. I don't have any resources or advice but I wanted to say what an amazing and pretty machine that is. I'd really like to see when you're done.
