Have you done this too?

when that happens to me, which it does with checking and
rechecking, more times than not, I have come to the realization, that I certainly am far from perfect and
it creeps in to make me humble, if I only would have done it right..
Then after a few moments, and calling myself a " dummy
no brains", I take a deep breath and think, I certainly
am getting my monies worth, by allowing myself to have the
opportunity to sew it twice, and enjoy the fabric as I
unsew my seam. Fabric at the price these days, makes me
take a step back and enjoy the journey, even when there
are set backs and bumps in the road. Don't be too hard
on yourself, your only human. Happy quilting, these are
the best of times, especially all the memories that go into
the making of the quilt.

You all speak as if you only have ONE seam ripper. At last count, I've got 4. Two float around the sewing table as needed. One (an ergonomic one) is in the carry sewing box and a fourth has been known to be found in my car. My church sewing group ladies weren't surprised when I could produce a ripper on a non-sewing day.

I've done things similar to this before; in fact I just did it on a table runner yesterday--lots smaller to take out than a quilt! I always blame myself for not paying close attention when I get in the "thrill of the moment". I think this is why someone coined the phrase "Measure twice, cut once" When these things happen, even though I'm HUGELY frustrated, I try to take a deep breath, get a cup of tea and calmly rip it out, and then I complain bitterly to my quilting buddy!

When it's a pattern that makes a difference exactly how the rows are placed. I put a safety pin on the left upper corner so I know the row is in the right direction. Glad you caught it before you quilted it. I've found my mistake after the quilt was completely quilted. Made a baby quilt with butterflies and when I finished, realized one was upside down. Remember....what doesn't kill us makes us stronger!

Yes been there too! I have now gotten into the habit of pinning little labels on each row with direction arrows and notes, I don't sew 'til I check the note...My husband shakes his head and says I am too pedantic...but seam ripping is my least favourite task. Yes I am an i dotter and a t crosser!

I have made this mistake and like you left it and came back later. I once put together a quilt top called "Chinese puzzle" I think every other block was turned around wrong. LOL When I finished it I could understand why it was called a puzzle! I learned to lay out the pieces before sewing them together!
