I think you should try the traditional log cabin layout with all the lights at the top left because your colors are very bright (and a beautiful combination) so I don't think you need the placement of the colors to make such a bold design. But of the two, I vote for number 1.

The are both nice; however, I think #1 is best as it has better movement.

I like #1 better, bt you might try using 4 center blocks making diamond, and turning the other blocks so you have a log cabin effect. I liked the #1 because of the center..and it was balanced. The colors are great.
