I take Soma when my back gets bad, and it makes me sleepy. I only take it at night. I just take regular pain pills during the day as they don't make me so sleepy like muscle relaxers.

Have you tried a heating pad on the back of your neck ? Hot showers with the water hitting where it hurts the worse ? I take flexoral and don't know how well it would work for a headache, I use it for my back and it makes me very sleepy and GRUMPY !

I take Flexoral quite often...if fact, will be taking one in a few minutes...I don't think that he will prescribe without some tests. You may have a pinched nerve. I have fibromyalgia and this is just one of the pills I use for pain relief.

Find a friend with REALLy strong thumbs. Massage is the only things that works!! Drugs are OK for the first 3 days, after that you are on your own!!

Skelaxin is a great muscle relaxer, and didn't make me sleepy, it just works.

Make sure your Dr. knows that you do not want something that knocks you out. I have done the gammet on muscle relaxers. The flexeral works but was tuff on my tummy. You may want to look into a tens machine. They are wonderful and actually reteach the nerves not to send that pain signal. I have used it on shoulders and back. Check around if insurance doesn't cover one if needed. The prices vary. I had a high dollar insurance pd rental and then a cheapie that insurance bought. no difference between how they worked or the effectiveness. Good luck.

I had the same problem a few years back. Turns out it was stress related. Try some relaxation exercises. This has helped me as I wasn't even aware that I was tensing my muscles when under stress.

Have you tried exercises to strengthen your back muscles? I have a problem with nausea when I take pain meds so I do these exercises to get relief. They're very easy and quick to do. Hope this helps.

I take Robaxin and it works just fine. Flexeril leaves me drooling on myself. Have you considered acupuncture in conjunction with the massages? It took a while for those muscles to tighten - one massage won't keep things in place. Hope you feel better.
