What is the appea of Yellow Brick Road pattern?

It does make a quick quilt and especially when you are a beginner is great for the speed and the use of fat quarters which it seems most of us have. My first year qulting I made 4 Turning Twenties quilts in a week for my kids at the last minute. I didn't have the pattern but looked at it and figured out how to use up the fq doing it. Worked great.

This has certainly been an interesting thread! I personally made a YBR a few years ago for a granddaughter's wedding gift. They picked the pattern because they wanted something "rustic" looking. We did it in homespun fabrics in various maroon checks, plaids and solids. It looked like something you'd expect in a log cabin, and they loved it.
The quilts by "Wunder-Mar" on page 5 of this thread certainly prove it's anything but a boring pattern! You just have to use a little imagination!

You are correct in one sense. it is a pattern to purchase, but it is easy and can be very attractive when made up. There are plenty of easy quilts in magazines and free on the internet. But there are some of us who would do the Yellow Brick Road as a quick quilt that makes good use of fabrics, and there are those that are stuck on those Bow Tucks Bags. to each their own, I would say.
