Well....everyone knows Alaska is cold in the winter, but did you know it's absolutely INCREDIBLY gorgeous and wonderful in the summer? Our spring is pretty short, we are notorious for having two seasons, winter and summer. Rumor has it that we have a couple of weeks of Spring and Autumn, but they come and go so fast.....

In May things start to warm up and the snow is usually all gone and by June we have lots of sunshine and July is HEAVEN. We watch for the fireweed blooming. It heralds the coming of the end of summer. When it's bloomed all the way to the top of the stalk, summer is virtually over.

We usually have snow before the end of October, and then we settle in for a long winter, some dark days, and look forward to the winter equinox on Dec 27th because then we start adding minutes of daylight to each day.

I've lived here almost 35 years and as I get older (and my bones do too!) I keep wondering why. Then I take a trip to somewhere else in the world and remember why I live in Alaska. It's beautiful, lots less crowded, freeways are not parking lots and God gives us salmon every year!! Oh yeah, my grandchildren are here too, and who can leave them?

For Las Vegas, definitely in February, March for Spring and October and December in the fall or winter. Otherwise it's usually hotter than a $2.00 pistol on a Saturday night.!!!!

Oregon is wonderful! Any time of the year is perfect to visit here. We have such an assortment.....coast, mountains, desert....a little bit of everything. Here on the coast if you don't like the weather, just wait five minutes and it will change.

I love the fall in Oregon. The changing of the leaves and the crispness in the air. Of course any time of year at the coast is great.

I would suggest to people to visit in the autumn...late September to early October...the colors are so beautiful...the air is crisp....there are delicious apples to pick, pumpkins to look at...Door county is awesome to visit that time of year with all of the outdoor decorations that people do...it is my favorite time of year and I am already looking forward to it after this long hot, humid summer we are having.

I would say Late September thru early November for central Illinois. That is the fall color season and we usually have many fall colors. The weather may be hot and dry, cool and damp, cold and wet, or windy. You don't get to choose the latter! But you will likely see pretty fall colors.
