What a good idea to include whole hexs into your layout. I've done it when I only had a fq of a fabric I wanted to include, but not when I just used one fabric for the whole thing. I had to hunt in your close-up pics., but I found them all. It looks fantastic. Your quilt will be treasured forever. Make sure you sign it and sew on a label to record your work.

The pattern repeat is 24". So that I would have needed at least 6 repeats, which would be a bare minimum of 4 yards. I believe I orginally purchased 8 yards (one cannot have too much fabric!) just in case I might have needed more. And I did because I used the focus fabric in the mitered borders which always takes more fabric. In addition I purchased an additional two yards to make pillow shams, plus went back yesterday and got the rest of the bolt of almost 3 yards.

The central OBW design measure 56" x 60".

I used the same fabric for my first OBW. I gave it to my SIL for her 80th birthday a couple of years ago. Isn't it fun to see what others do with the same fabric and pattern?

As someone else said - STUNNING! A beauty of a quilt!

Just looked at the pic from Bobby's Girl too- it is also terrific, and a great study in how different things can turn out with the same fabrics!
