I have bought mine at both the supermarket in the paper aisle and at K-mart. It is very easy to fine - near waxed paper, plastic wrap and foil.

I'm working on two- well at least just cutting for now. One is the jigsaw puzzle and my most admired but haven't had the nerve to start- double wedding ring. Both use different color pieces since that's all I have. I'm cutting up old shirts, pillowcases, etc. I can't wait to start sewing them together. All I do at the moment is cut, cut, and cut!!!!!

I would use old file folders or light weight cardboard to make your pattern. You can get some basting spray to temporariy glue your template to the fabric or use some heavy weight washers or small sand bags to hold in place while you cut with a rotary cutter. You can also buy some stencil plastic at Hobby Lobby to make your templates. If you want to use paper you will have to have pieces big enough to pin it in several places to keep it from slipping.

Just regular freezer paper from the store. I believe I bought some freezer paper that was marked with grids (1/4") from Georgia Bonesteel's Quilt Shop. I don't know if she is still in business or not. I bought it mail-order.
