A rose by any other name would smell as sweet....I dont think anyone means it to be insulting. Certainly a knitted or crocheted "covering" is as valuable as a quilt...as it a fleece blanket made with love and given. Just my opinion.

It does not bother me what the children want to call them, as long as they like them and keeps them warm.

What really bothers me is that Michael Jackson's youngest child is still called "Blanket" That has got to be more embarressing by the day for that poor child!

The child may find it comforting, since the father he and loved called him that. I say this because my father always called me "Peach" and to this day I miss being called that by him. I would not mind if others called me that because it would be a fond memory of him. Just my opinion.

No, because a quilt is a blanket, one of many types. They are quilts whether tied, hand quilted, or machine quilted {individually or mass produced}; peiced, whole cloth, embroidered, or appliqued. Like others have said, "quilts are blankets, but not all blankets are quilts."

You betcha. The insurance companies call it that. That is why an appraisal is so important.

It sounds like no harm was done by Hannah at Craftsy.com for referring to a quilt as a blanket. It seems a little disrespectful to point out names of businesses and people simply because you disagree with whether a quilt is referred to a blanket or not. It really doesn’t matter what non-quilters think about my quilts and I don’t quilt to earn respect from anyone, I quilt because I like to. You sound angry….:hunf: Lighten up….:-P enjoy what you do. Don’t be too concerned about what others think. :-P :) :-D :?
