A lot of people do it that way. Quilts for Kids prefers it that way, I think. It's all a matter of preference.

I know a lot of people do it this way, but I have always put a binding on mine, at least so far. I think if the edge starts to wear, I don't know why you couldn't put a binding on it at that time. :):)

What ever you want to do but the french binding has 2 layers of fab where when you just fold over and st down has one and dose not wear as long. I love doing the french binding and love the hand stitching it down.

Well, when I was young and my DMIL taught me TRADITIONAL quilting by hand and with what we had on hand because she was a farmer and I mean she farmed for HER living and to support three growing boys. We hemmed the quilt with the backing, which is quite traditional because the was never anything extra to run down to the LQS and spend on binding.

I think that type of binding has its place. If I am doing a quilt made of old jeans I always bind that way. It looks great. To each his own.

If you do nt have time to do a binding that is the best way to finish your quilt Just cut the backing larger so you can finish it that way
