Nope .... never .... shoes, sandals or slippers on at all times. Too many foot doctors have told me that foot injuries usually occur when barefoot and I drop needles and pins on the carpet in my sewing room....but that's just me and obviously I am in the minority. I see gals come to classes at m LQS and they are walking around barefoot. The owner has politely requested they put on their shoes.

Last night I was demoing a serger for a lady and had to kick off my shoe, I explained to her I am a barefoot sewer and she said she was too. I think there are many of us out there.

Barefoot or socks. I wear ballarina slippers in the house but still slip them off when I sit down. Am guilty of the one shoe on, one shoe off bit which my DGSs think is hilarious but the FEDEX/UPS guys don't bat an eye anymore when I answer the door!

When I have the opportunity to quilt for long periods of time, the one shoe method is the best particularly when free motion quilting. Just the little bit of sensitivity to pressure on the machine peddle by my bare or nearly bare foot makes a difference .... for me.

My sewingroom has a carpet and I am terrified of stepping on one of the many pins that get dropped or knocked off my sewing table so I keep my shoes on at all times.
