I read your answer in the first post of the quilt. When I went out to look at it, I had already bookmarked the Robert Kaufman print! I knew I wanted to use it in something, but wanted to narrow down what I would buy - wanted all of them!

The graduated fabric (Gelato) is absolutely wonderful. When I saw them at a quilt show last year, I bought 1-1/2 yds of each color and went back the next day and bought more. Even though I haven't used it yet I will probably get some more this year when they are in Dallas. The subtle lines going through it make it look almost like silk when you stand back.

I saw this quilt at the quilt show in October too so bought the brown to gold graduated fabric plus the bubble fabric to match it. I didn't purchase the pattern as I figured I could make up my own using the Bargello program (free). I found my graduated fabric just didn't have enough variation between the browns and golds to suit me so went back to my stash to find the colors I needed but still used the bubble fabric as the focal fabric. I used the graduated fabric as part of the backing so it didn't go to waste along with other fabrics used on the front. Have finished putting my top together but its waiting to be quilted now. I also used the border section from the bubble fabric as part of the backing too. I did the borders a little different than the pattern showed too. I continued the bubble fabric in the bargello right thru the borders and into the binding. Working on the quilting pattern now.

Stunning! Colors remind me of a richly jewel beaded necklace!

So my question may be lame, but when you have the red colored fabric fading in and out, is that an original fabric that fades or did you create that?
