Sometimes I will make a quilt for a special person, baby, relative. I generally make a quilt because I want to try a new technique, but I just have to love it. Bottom line, even if it is for someone else I do it for me.

So I can free my mind of everything else and just enjoy myself creating something!

I quilt because I love the results. I love creating something from fabric. I am carrying on my Mom and grandma's tradition. I do not do them for shows. I hate it when someone points out the flaws. I do not make quilts to be perfect. They are made with love and to be used.

Always for use and fun. I want friends and family to really enjoy my quilts. Tell them if they wear it out I will make them another . They are washable.
I will most likely make them anther anyways

I used collect fabric to make my own clothes (or so I told myself). I worked in an office and hated what was sold and made my own outfits - more than I could wear in 2 lifetimes. I finally figured out, I just loved fabric!
So, I stopped making clothes and started quilting, cus, well I lived outside of Buffalo, NY and you dont need more of an excuse than that to own lots of quilts!
Now, I live in SC inland from the coast an hr and its cold about 2 -3 hrs a yr! LOL, so I dont make heavy quilts, but very thin quilts cus I just cant give up fabrics. I love to design and play w/ color too.
Could be why I loved my job - I worked in an art dept where we designed the art customers wanted printed on stuff. sharet

I have made many quilts, usually know who I will share this one with while I am working on it and I love to see them on the beds, divans or even for nap time just so they are used. No show would bring the enjoyment I get from family and friends who use them. Also they are not picture perfect just good cover.

I quilt because I have to, sometimes I give the quilt as a gift, sometimes I keep it. No matter how many quilts I have ,I still have a deep rooted need to make more, sounds like an illness doesn't it? Quilting is my island of sanity when everything else around me is driving me crazy, I go into my sewing room, shut the door and begin my quilting therapy. I LOVE TO MAKE QUILTS!!

I don't make quilts for show, I make them for all of the other reasons you listed!
