Well, Abby Rose is settling in quite well, and is becoming very bonded. She thinks she has to be no more then a few inches from me. I let her out to explore a bit tonight. We have a big Doberman dog that is dying to give her a good sniff and she is just not having that. I am sure he would not intentionally hurt her but he does scare her, so we are not letting him too close to her yet. We put Duke to bed in another room and let Abby have the run of the house. I watched a movie and she was on my chest the whole time.
I am really surprised how friendly and sweet she is. My Persian is the last kitten I have had and Priscilla has always been sort of aloof and snooty. She loves my husband, but is not crazy about anyone else. I wanted a lap kitty and she is not that way at all. My Maine coon boy is friendly and attached to me, but really only likes to be inside for short periods of time. He wants to hunt and lay on the back porch. I think that he thinks he is a lion. Abby has a much different personality so far. She is just a baby, so it may change, but for now it is kind of fun having a sweet cuddly little one around.

Fratcat, I agree with you about shelters. Our last 3 dogs have come from the local shelter and all have been excellent animals. DH says after we move, he is going to go 'shopping' for a cat there. (Where we are now, cats are too often coyote lunches.)
